Might be worth noting that this is for pre order only
Blurb says it's a prime exclusive, but allowed me to order even though I'm not.....
Thanks ordered.
Great deal 🏻
"Item not yet released"?
This is a pre-order item fyi.
Thanks OP, been looking for a deal on this for ages. Just nabbed one on pre-order. Heat added.
Why does it say pre-order? Bought this exact same one, from Amazon on 2nd of December? Or is there some kind of new version?
Any idea when the release date is?
Can you use them for xbox one ?

excellent!! cheers!!
I have one of this connected to my PS4 and in order to get rid of the wireless controller disconnection, you will have to buy a better USB cable. I bought this one from Amazon and it solved the issue.
Wow I paid £80 at the beginning of the year
I bought one similar to this for my Xbox One earlier in the year. When the XB is turned off the HD stays on. Should it not switch off at the same time as the XB or is this normal?
Great Deal thx for the post
Looks like the need xbox one
Can you take the hdd out and stick it in a ps4?
Shame it not yet been released would have been a great christmas present
Not sure if the hardware encryption can be turned off. But Never buy one if it cannot. I had a WD 2TB 3.5 inch ext HDD a few years ago with hardware encryption capability, although I never put a password on it. One day (~3 years) the case stopped working, and I tried to take the internal HDD out to recover data, guess what - it was still encrypted! Even worse, the onboard encryption chip has built-in keys, so even if I buy another same product and swap the internal HDD, I would still unable to recover data. I lost 2TB data backups. Luckily the most important data I have separate backups, but I still lost ~ 1TB files.

On average, you will get a fairly good chance that the internal HDD will survive in 5-10 years, but the case would probably has a much shorter life. A simple calculation, if you have 95% chance the internal HDD is still alive in 5 years, and the chance of the case is 80%, you will have only 76% chance of accessing your data after 5 years (unless you have another backup). Most people do not have multiple backups (I know we should), and will not replace the HDD every 5 years. Most of us just pray for the eternal life of HDDs and risk the rest.

So, theo bottom line is never put your only copy of data in an hardware encrypted HDD case. This kind of "security" is a big joke. "Security" is not only for preventing unauthorised access, but also should provide data integrity, which is highly compromised in such devices.
Wish this had come up before I bought the Seagate ones last week.
I purchased the 4TB in Nov from Amazon for £89.99

out for delivery notice received!
I've only just got round to opening my drive. What's the connector type on the drive-side of the supplied cable? I haven't seen that type of plug before - is it proprietary, and so I shouldn't lose it? I'd presumed this drive used a standard usb3 cable. TIA.
it is a micro b superspeed connector
