Did performance degrade with the heat? Or were you just being a bit of a ponce?

They've got a max operating temp of 70c, and they have no heatsinks, I would expect them to get hot?
I would prefer payment 15£ more and get the Samsung Evo 960.

The drive will start to throttle speed before that temp limit.
I bought intel 760p instead of the WD black version. But still good price in the UK.

Yeah I meant, I expect them to get hot, not max temp.

the 500 960 evo is on for 168GBP on amazon.de right now
I'm waiting for the 980 series to be announced in March.
I've been very happy with my 950 pro, which performs better than 960 evo but obviously worse than 960 pro (not enough to upgrade to though)
my new thinkpad is coming with a 250GB PCIe SSD... really hoping it's the PM981 (OEM version of what will eventually be 980 evo)
I think if you were dashing around, back & forth all day you'd also get hot!
For a NVMe the write speed seems slow.
Write performance seems a bit low on these & overall poorer performance than competition.

lol. Beat me to it by a few seconds!
Great minds think alike.

This. We only buy Samsung Evo's at work now and I do the same at home - great speeds and reliability for only a few quid more.

I remember selling a couple of my 4MB SIMMs for £175 each after the massive price spike caused by the Summito resin factory fire in 1993. I made do with 8MB until the price came back down to £70, replaced the ones i'd sold and pocketed a tidy profit
