This is brilliant! Probably the cheapest way to get a RAID 1, yet you still have the flexibility to use the USB directly. If you want to use it as a network drive, I guess you can just simply plug it into some old laptop, or a lot of the routers, and share it on the LAN. Sure it probably does not have a lot of the fancy stuff a NAS provides, but most people don't need those fancy stuff anyway. Wish I'd waited for this deal rather than going for the NAS I am using now.
Fill yer boots

14TB Reds for £16.89/TB (£236.50)

If that's too steep, you can currently get 14TB Elements (Whites) for £14.36/TB (£200.99)
The 12TB Elements deal was the best tonight £12.92/TB (£154.99) - if you don't mind White v Red - but has already expired
What’s warranty on reds ? And if removed.

reds have 3 year warranty. don't think think this is effected if removed as duos are designed to allow easy swap out.

I think a lot of people who buy these don't actually use them in the enclosure, but use them as a cheap route to getting genuine Reds for their NAS

Sc**w it, I guess I will need an RAID 1 external drive to back up my RAID 1 NAS. Bought!
Ordered 2 as an upgrade for my raid 5. Hopefully I can sell off the extra drive and enclosures without much hassle. Thanks for posting and to @kowalski for advising me to get these in the first place - saved me a lot of money

It seems more like 20-40

wow that is a cracking price.
saw them at 75 a month or two ago but was the only one at the time. will keep my eye out.
Why is the thing so huge when it only contains 2 standard 3.5inch drives?
Doesn't selling the enclosure defeat part of the objective of getting the reds to begin with, as surely if you don't have the enclosure anymore you run the risk of losing the warranty?
Whatever the storage capacity, will be full with you know what in no time

Thanks to your previous advice I ended up ordering a couple of the 12TB... Whoops
Back in the day spending 500 on computer stuff was norm (once paid £500 for 512mb ram!)... but not these days, I'll delete stuff 1st
Now OOS.
sadly no longer available. hope it helped a few out.

Still in stock. Just ordered.
If you've missed out, it's worth keeping an eye on the Amazon page. The recent 24TB deal went in and out of stock over several days.

I think you can still get the Reds replaced under warranty without the enclosure... but not certain

I would have thought so, as the one good drive will still work until the bad one is replaced and rebuilt.
How do you remove the actual drive from the case ? I can’t see any screws

on windows you use computer management to initialise/format disks in order for them to become visible.
maybe setapp.com/how…mac
can help.
