I was looking for one which was usb-c compatible and the camels said that this was the cheapest price it had ever been.

I got the 5TB My Passport for Mac last week for £90. It doesn’t say it’s USB-C, but it comes with both USB-A and USB-C cables.

Which one exactly mate? There's been so many deals recently! Also, when you say it has usb-c, do you mean it natively has a usb-c port on the drive itself which allows for faster transfer speeds or is it just a usb-a adapter cable? Cheers!

WD 5TB My Passport for Mac Portable Hard Drive in midnight blue. Comes with a micro-usb to usb-c cable. I doubt you’re going to get much speed out of a 5400rpm drive even with a usb-c interface.
I’m gonna be getting the new 16” MBP soon. Maybe I should cave for this?

I've got a macbook 12 inch and it only has one port on it, which is usb-c. I went for this because it is just a straight up USB-C connection with no adapters needed etc.

Buy the cheapest and buy a USB-C cable separately if required as there will be no difference in performance with a 2.5" HDD.

Thanks. I didn't know that.

Type C is a connector type and you will see it with USB 2.0 (~45Bs) all the way up to TB3 (~4.5GBs).
So alone it doesn't tell you anything about the expected performance.
A portable 2.5" HDD will max out at under 200MBs which is fine for USB 3.0 with a Type A connector.
Anyone know how this performs - its for photos, videos and work files? I don't understand the Type C (Sorry for being daft)

Thanks in advance

Type C is the connector on the cable you connect the drive in to. Modern android phones are type c for charging. MacBook and MacBook Pro are type c too
