You're welcome pal
problems with Mac/Win users

I use this on a Mac.
I think the hardware is good but...
1) The software needs to consider user feedback to WD. As a company they seem to ignore their customers' concerns about compatibility with macOS updates, and other issues. Google it! Hence 1 star dropped.
It can be a little slow to mount, but this is a fair trade for the encryption.
Saying that, I use it with macOS 10.13.2.
2) BEWARE, If you want to use this on 'user' accounts (i.e non administrator) on Windows where the WD software is NOT installed, i.e. on a client's PC. You CANNOT mount it without admin login details. This is a MAJOR flaw in the WD software, and really suggests that WD do not really test their software with users. I was going to use it as a cross platform drive on macOS and Windows 10, but cannot do this. Hence another star dropped.
Good deal, hear added.Just to note, it’s the same pricing on WD website and more colour options are available
WD 4 TB Elements Portable Hard Drive is available for £89.09 at Amazon too which is better value imho
Was £89.99 a few weeks ago at Currys. Quite surprised, but Currys do seem to be making an effort on prices recently. Worth checking, as always easier to collect, if near a branch. I use Amazon, but Currys do more for the economy, taxes etc. and are UK based. Always use a UK firm if only a tiny percentage difference. Would be interesting to know if Amazon actually sell undamaged things at a loss? Anyone know for sure?

This has 3-years warranty instead of the Elements 2 year warranty, the extra year on the product at that point in it's working life is well worth the extra £4 imho. Espicially if you intend on using it a lot and moving it around significantly over the years!!

£5 not £4
Never realised the guarantee was different. Worth £5 for extra year on a hard disk, but my problem is I lose guarantees and most paperwork, within a week!

Always gets me as to why warranty seems to be a major factor for some when it comes to drives. Warranty doesn't cover data loss.
Now, 92gbp. Nice, good hdd, I take one extra

Just format the drive as exFAT and you have no issues using it cross platform.
Any idea what drive is in this? Can it be shucked for the internal drive?
Great hard drive, I use it with my Xbox
Shall I bite, I could do with extra storage for the xbox one.

Don't need any of that stuff, just proof of purchase which is a piece of cake when products have been bought online.
Just provide them with order emails or paypal/bank screengrabs and they are legally obligated to honor the warranty offered to you at the point of sale :-)
