Any drive can and will fail. It could be hours days weeks or years. Remember to have multiple backups and you should be ok as long you're not extremely unlucky and they all fail at the same time.

A) You'll never sell them for £105 each
B) You'll go through a lot of idiots on gumtree trying to scam you
C) It'll probably take ages to get rid of them

Why would anyone pay £105 on gumtree??? they can buy them for £105 normal price on amazon..

Seems soo crafty that my brain doesn't understand it.

I'd treat a used/returned/reborn product with a different mindset. I wouldn't be put off by a single issue with one. This is brand new afterall.

What's the warranty length with these? Nevermind. 3 years in the OP

Triple back up on different drives should alleviate any worries.

I'm sure its only the caddy part on my cloud drive.. but haven't had time to open it up yet.
It does however have several years from onedrive backed up on it.. (as Microsoft took all the space back on the old nokia Lumia phone accounts)
Great price.. Glad I held off buying a 2TB the other day. Thanks for posting
Ordered two at this price.
Thanks, Got one.
Any idea if Quidco will be tracked for this ?
Great price. Would be dumb not to but at this price imo.

So thats the 1tb ssd i ordered earlier in addition to 1tb ssd i still haven’t opened from last year as well as 5 wd my passports and 1 maxtor that are currently full. Not long before i need to declare bankruptcy

Ps forgot to mention i only paid £46 as i had voucher from before so that definitely was a bonus

Same, used WD since early 2000s without any untimely failures, in the last few years, however, they have had an awful faliure rate (I've owned 100s too).
I decided this is such a good deal so thanks For posting. I have finally signed up for Amazon credit to get the £20 gift card so only charged £50
Is it possible to remove the drive from this caddy and use it internally?

Always sensible to keep multiple backups then. Amazes me the amount of people who have precious memories on any hard drive and don’t keep backups.

It's very easy to setup. Add your email, (left). In the middle field choose 'Amazon price', '3rd party' price or '3rd party used' from the drop down list. Right, enter your amount, look at the history of the graph to gauge a reasonable trigger price (or not), now you'll get email alerts if Amazon reduces its price to £12 or less.
Wow, I can't remember a 5tb portable drive being anywhere near this price, cheers for posting, heat added for sure.
In op post it states auto backup software so nothing gets lost, doesn’t that make buying another hard drive pointless.

Thanks so much for this, what a steal!

Agree to the savvy shopper, but there are also alot of people out there who thinks because it's posted on Gumtree etc, it's a bargain and prefer paying in cash.

It’s the latest My Passport model with new “streamlined” styling.

The new My Passport Ultra is more expensive.

ALL drives WILL eventually fail.
What wears a disk down is how long it is spinning / in use.
I would back up (as often as you see fit) UNPLUG it and store somewhere safe.
That way it will last for decades, hopefully.
Just remember do not put all your eggs (or data) in one basket.

This is quite a slow drive "Data Transfer Rate 140 Mb per second".
I would look at a faster one myself - for example Seagate 5 TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 - £102.95
amazon.co.uk/Sea…B2M
with a data transfer rate of 625 MB per second

That's the speed of USB 3.0, that drive is a little faster than this one but only by 10-15%

There's a saying that if your data doesn't exist in three places then it doesn't exist at all.

Don't leave these things to chance.
Can I put recorded 4k videos and pictures on this and play on an LG Oled via the USB?

Looking to put everything from my memory cards on it and select/play on the tv
