nice price

I dont understand. Why do the sell stuff at ebay, when they are an online shop?

I check at ebuyer site. they sell it cheaper at ebay.

This is not the only online retailer selling stuff at ebay. I wonder why they are doing this?

Dane-Elec 640GB USB powered is £41.99 delivered @ Scan plus you can remove the drive if needed.

Dane-Elec 640GB - is back up to £47.98 - previous post on that is expired.

Alot of stores are opening outlet stores on eBay to sell off customer returns, products with damaged boxes etc. They use to sell them on by the pallet but now realise they are missing out on some profit.

I have one of these for the past few months...and it is good.

Nope its £41.99 on the today only page . . .

640GB odd number.

a - it's even.

b - I think you'll find that 20gb, 40gb, 80gb, 160gb, 320gb are all commonplace. This is simply double that!

Why ? I have computers with 160, 320 & 640 GB HDDs. It probably dates back to when drives were smaller and storage increased in multiples of 40 GB. Storage now appears to double up from a base 250 GB, thus 500GB, 1 TB etc.

For £5 more you get 750gb. See previous deal posted

Obviously expressing similar thoughts.

Sorry. I know I am only a new member...but why are there always so many external hard drives on this site at the moment? They are cheap wherever you and are not hot deals imo.

... Oh Bless.

External hard drives are very popular. I myself have 8.5tb of storage space for all of the media i own, so always welcome the chance to view these deals.

The most important thing to remember is that they are definitely NOT cheap wherever you go. Otherwise you would likely walk in to your local Comet/PC World/ Currys and get short changed by purchasing one off the shelf at their vastly inflated prices.

would a sumvision cyclone mk1 run these portable drives.need one for lil daughters room but dont want all the extra wires that come with a normal external drive.

Yep it's a Samsung 2.5" 9.5mm drive

Just incase anyone has a Sony Bravia TV. These are the only drives I have found that work off the power provided by the usb port. Other 2.5 inch external drives must draw more power, so these drives are ideal.

My Samsung S2 640GB runs fine on my 37EX403.

P.S. I hope ebuyer have the listing wrong - £44.99 is a lot of money for an 80GB drive

Why not put it in internally? Much better.

Thanks - but it's because I've already got a 500gb internal that's 10gb away from being full!! This one's to put a few kids games on so they don't have to keep swapping discs (with the inevitable damage/scratches) - and yes, before anyone asks I do own the originals.

Speaking of which I have a WD NAS which my Bravia 40W5500 picks up fine and plays most files which to my surprise also plays coverted MKV files, however when this file is over say 500mb it wont play, any ideas? Was just wondering as i mainly use my external HD to store blu rays so at the moment i have to watch the larger files on my ps3 which plays all conversions no problem

Ordered one of these when first spotted the deal, the drive has been playing up recently (writing @ approx 30MB/s, but only reading at approx 1MB/s, failing SMART testing, HDTune and WD's own diagnostics).

Anyway, I forgot to go through eBuyer for warranty and instead went through Western Digital - who have shipped me a 750GB version as a replacement! Just hope it lasts longer
