What is the full model code? I’m interested because I expected a Blue disk like in the 5TB version
They have a 6tb 99 instead of 119 in Argos

Probably a stupid question, but what are the main differences (apart from the plug obviously!) between powered and USB storage when considering the price is similar?

I wondered the same. My understanding is the separately powered drives are 3.5” “desktop” HDDs, usually 7200rpm so can achieve faster read/write speeds. USB-powered drives are 2.5” and 5400rpm spindle speed. It appears the largest capacity portable drive is 5TB.

6TB Elements - WD60EMAZ6TB My Book - WD60EDAZ

I agree, my 6TB my book was WD60EDAZ too.
OK Value but my buy point is £15/Tb these days, I've purchased the 8Tb WD and 6Tb Seagate at this price.

Im very lucky, was about to buy this one, but saw that the 12tb was in stock for 16th Jan and ordered that. However it was delivered on the 4th.

i was one of the last few that got the 12tb for 155 on amazon, about £12 per 1tb. It is a wd red if you were wondering.

There is really only WD or Seagate (together they have bought out the other major HDD companies). WD produce the more reliable drives. There have been very good deals for the WD black (Contain HGST drives) as well as the WD reds. The blacks will be the better drives - they will be faster 7200 rpm which will be better for running programmes from and have a 5 year warranty. The reds are 5400 rpm more suited to storage and have a 3 year warranty.

Yeah. Ive done my research based on reliability of drives in data centres and WD come out top whereas Seagate are least reliable. Think I was unlucky with this one. Xbox won't even recognise it now.

Funny, mine was died 4 days ago, 4 years old.
Bit cold now, due to ebuyer ebay deals which are under £15 a TB (5TB for £72 so £14.40 per TB for example).

Unless of course if you want 6tb over 5tb on a single drive. Plus a 5tb drive equates to 4.5tb worth of usable storage, a 6tb drive will be around 5.4tb. Which translates at roughly £16 per usable TB vs £18 per usable TB for the one here.

They are also Seagate drives, which while I have personally never had an issue, is rarely recommended over WD due to reliability. Something to keep in mind when purchasing Seagate. (that said a 2tb Seagate external of mine recently failed after 3yrs but in comparison to people having entire servers worth of drives fail I consider mine a non issue)

Meh, I find they are all as bad/good as each other to be honest.
