It's clearly not for you then
This should be good for shucking as it contains HGST Ultrastar DC HC520 which are "Date Center" drives.

The "Date Center" drives have an error rate of 1 in 10^15 were as WD Reds and White labels have an error rate of 1 in 10^14.

Great drives for the price.

I hope this helps somebody.

Just buy a 2TB SSD

Wait a minute.......
I think it's a bit too late in the console cycle for me to get a standard hard drive. I'd like to know how much of a difference this would make to Series X load times etc, considering it's going to have a custom SSD running the machine.

Save the £200 for the next gen - it aint going to be cheap and knowing microsoft it will come with f-all hard drive space - current gen games are running at 100GB+ (battlefield etc) for one game !!

If I hadn't bought six 12TB WD drives in Dec, for a raid 6 setup, then I would by these.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket, max I would buy is 4tb but that's just me.

That is why I have two raid 6 setup over thunderbolt and a "raid 6" NAS setup too.

What I don't have is an offset setup. Ho hum!

It's all relative. It was impractical (of not impossible)/ not cost effective at all back in the mid / early 90s to buy 2 smaller HDDs to split the data up over 2 drives.

Yep.. and if you really NEED 12tb for a console you also have benefits who has that much spare time?!?
"help drive the competitive edge you need to win"

What's this BS?
Is the an external drive? Can it be used with PC?

You could equally say that if you REALLY have as little free time as you profess, you need to either stop having kids or go back to night school and get a better job that doesn’t include 12hr shifts

There is no such thing as a “gaming hard drive” it’s just a hard drive, the Xbox uses USB like any PC, you can use this in the Xbox and the format it to use it in your PC and vice versa
This is mad - do people actually need this much storage?! Get an SSD in a USB 3.0 enclosure and see way faster performance than HDD!

SSD is faster, no doubt, but for many STORAGE is the issue, not load speed (unless you can find me a 5tb SSD for £100?). If you’re one of those people who commits to games, great, I can’t, I get bored, I’ll flit from Modern Warfare, to FH4 to FIFA, to Plants V Zombies to Assassins Creed etc, SSD wouldn’t work for me, the few secs saved to load would be dwarfed by the need to redownload a 120gb game
Edited by: "Timschoice" 29th Dec 2019
The fact that consoles started using better texture packs has made the size of games massive, even soundfiles looking at Titanfalls 50gb+.
Curry's have also price matched if anyone needs BNPL with there Your Plan service.
Great price and find, thanks OP

If you do need this much storage an SSD is going to be very very expensive.

I manually reconstructed the boot sector of a 120mb HD to recover files back then, wouldn't even attempt it now! Mind you it was back in dos and it was only text files I needed so I probably recovered a few mb at most in total, and spent hours doing so.
ArcAndPie29/12/2019 18:41

Even at 500mb a 120Gb file will still take over 40mins and that’s assuming you’re getting 500mb all the time....which if you’re on Virgin, is unlikely. On top of that, unless you’re getting a massive deal, you could probably buy 5 of these a year for the cost your internet, horses for courses I guess
