Stupid question, do i stick this in my PCIe slot on my desktop pc? I currently use an SSD so not too familiar with these.

It doesn't go into a slot that takes PCIe cards but one that takes M.2 PCIe SSDs which is very different.
no they fit in an M.2 slot on your motherboard altho you can get a pci-e adaptor card so you can then do so I believe.
Buy the new version on Amazon the 2nd gen release its faster and only £10 more

Oooh, glad you told me, thank you. I am assuming a Dell I3 Optiplex desktop will not have a M.2 slot?

Cant you buy an adapter and use it on MBP?
then its not pci-e and a totally different ssd ,altho its a great price its no good for my motherboard as I can only have either 2 x pci-e m.2's or 1 pci-2 m.2 and 1 sata m.2
are you sure?
because the wd ones that are pci-e all state pci-e on the wrapper where the others have no mention of pci-e anywhere..i just don't want to buy another drive and it not work like my last one.

100%. It clearly states NVMe and this is the link to Western Digital using the part number:
wdc.com/en-…tml
Interface
PCIe Gen3 8 Gb/s, up to 4 lanes
Form Factor
M.2 2280

awesome thanks..going to order the 1tb now,its nice not to have any sata leads trailing around the pc
Bought the more expensive one on Amazon, thanks.
Be warned, the performance of this NVMe based drive is woeful at best and you money would probably be better invested in either a faster drive (the newer model) or another make. You could even save £30-40 and get a normal SATA based m.2 drive that wouldn't be much worse than this.

Echo echo echo.
I bought the 256gb version of it a couple of weeks ago because I liked the idea of no sata cables and its been ok,no different to my ssd it replaced, and I guess unless your transferring large files you probably wouldn't notice any different but as you say the other is a fair bit faster for a tenner more.
Anyone able to give me a link to the one £10 more? Can't see it on amazon...
