A New Dimension Of Storage

Ready for your high performance computing needs, a WD Blue™ 3D NAND SATA SSD offers high capacity, enhanced reliability, and blazing speed.
Product DetailsHigh capacity with enhanced reliability
A WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD uses 3D NAND technology not only for higher capacities (up to 4TB in the 2.5" 7mm form factor1) than the previous generation WD Blue SSDs, but also to help reduce cell-to-cell interference for enhanced reliability.
Superior Performance
3D NAND technology enables Sequential Read Speeds up to 560MB/s and Sequential Write Speeds up to 530MB/s.
Leading-Edge Reliability
An SSD is designed with no moving parts to help protect against data loss if it is accidentally bumped or dropped. And with 1.75M hours MTTF (mean time to failure)2, up to 600 TBW (terabytes written)3, and several error correction technologies, WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSDs can help guard data for years to come.
Broad Compatibility
With a certification from the WD Functional Integrity Testing Lab (F.I.T. Lab™), every WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD is verified for compatibility with a wide range of desktop and laptop computers. Every WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD goes through extensive compatibility and reliability testing to ensure it meets the high standards of the WD brand.
Downloadable WD SSD Dashboard And Acronis Software
Monitor your drive’s available capacity, operating temperatures, SMART attributes and more with the WD SSD Dashboard. Acronis® True Image™ WD Edition software, available as a free download, can clone drives and backup your operating system, applications, settings and all of your data.

Can I get a youth discount account as a apprentice? I've tried signing up but they ask for a offer letter which I no longer have due to being 3 years deep in my apprenticeship.

I don't know I just signed up using my university email and it worked automatically. Try find a cousin or someone in uni and try their official uni email.
Slightly cheaper at £52.19 if you sign up for their newsletter and get the discount code. Just ordered one.
Bare in mind if you can fit an NVME on your motherboard/in your laptop you can get a faster drive for not far off the same price. A few months back I got this for around £50, it’s not WD don’t get me wrong, but much faster than this. Integral M Series 512GB NVMe M.2 Internal SSD, Up To 2000MB/s Read 1600MB/s Write - For Gaming and Graphics/Video Editing, INSSD512GM280NM1 amazon.co.uk/dp/…Y7Z
I have 20% off code on WD Store from PerksAtWork. Message me if you want one.
There is no speed advantage with this over a standard SSD in a 2.5" enclosure. If you want 6x the speed, go with Adata XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 512GB read/write up to 3500/3000MB/s on Amazon, amazon.co.uk/ADA…8-1

the also have the slightly slower Sabrent at the same price. 1 Terabyte version are even faster. For speed comparison try ssd.userbenchmark.com/
A word of warning, these slot in type of SSDs come in several different interfaces, so make sure your motherboard is the same as the one you inted on buying. The NVMe PCIe M.2 interface is found in branded laptops and desktops.

Yeah sadly at the time I bought mine I needed it and there weren’t any better offers. To be fair though in most day to day tasks you’re not going to notice a huge difference between the two. Even a good SSD to NVMe in most workloads you won’t notice a huge difference. It’s not like the leap from mechanical to SSD
I've never installed an M.2 SSD before. I have a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard.

How would I install one please? Is it easy? My 256GB SSD is getting pretty full.

You need to use a screwdriver to remove the heat protector and remove old one, see link and see specs, if this is the one you have.

Remove old one? I don't have a M.2 installed. My SSD is errm.. one of those flat rectangular ones. Like a little HDD.

Okay scroll down to look at the screen with heading AMD StoreMI technology, it points and says M.2 Connector with Thermal Guard - you need to remove that thermal guard and slot M.2 in, it fits kind of like RAM but on sideways, here, this video might help.

It does, yeah. You just push it back down until it touches its post, then screw it back down.
Takes less than a minute once the side of your case is off.

I think people need to know that the product linked (the WD Blue) is NOT and NVMe drive. The title is correct, it’s a SATA Drive in a m.2 format.

For people looking to attach this to their motherboard, like a B450 here, you’ll probably have 1 m.2 slot sitting just under your CPU. This is a NVMe m.2 slot (PCIe) not a SATA m.2 slot. On the B450 Aorus Elite you have 2 m.2 slots - 1x PCIE 3.0 x 4 and 1 PCIe 3.0 x 2 (the former to be used as your boot drive). The link to the WD NVMe Drive you should use is (model: SN550) is shop.westerndigital.com/en-…ssd as featured in this deal: hotukdeals.com/dea…116

Hope this helps. Just check with your motherboard compatibility.

my student discount says it expires in 8 days. Does this mean WD student discount scheme ends in 8 days or just my student discount period ends in 8 days? I'm hoping for the 1tb to come back in stock so i can use my discount on that but i'm afraid it won't come back in stock before the student scheme expires.
If someone has a spare student discount code, it`d be most appreciated if you sent it my way please!
How does this compare to the Samsung evo drives?
Thanks op, ordered, heat
