What's the deal with the used ones? Is it worth getting new for the price difference?

I would get new, memory on ssd has an x number of writes. You don't know how many read writes it had.

When its used "like new" its worth getting it for the discount imo, the other categories its up to you e.g. the rog strix 1050 I have listed retails for about £140 still but can be had at £69 in "good" condition

download a free program called crystal disk info. It shows you the read/write data and health. Also shows you you the powered on time in hours and even how many times its been powered on. Great bit of free software

I've recently looked at replacing a Hard drive in a tv recorder. I was scouring hummy tv as I was thinking maybe a used drive.

It was then brought to my attention that the smart system information (such as hours powered on , usage, over rights etc)can be wiped and re set to zero! HTH

thanks but I meant you don't know how long it's been used before purchase.

I am no expert but think that the endurance is based on the number of writes rather than reads. I intend to use it as a second drive for games rather than a boot drive so there shouldn't be that much happening in terms or writes at the speed it takes me to complete a game. If it works OK when I get it then it should last me for what I intend on using it for.
