Cold sorry, I just bought a 1.5tb WD elements drive for £45 (from amazon)
Edited by: "djdelmar" 18th May 2011

Err this is a portable 2.5" hard drive - requires a usb cable only - this is not the brick ones which need a power supply the size of this hard drive. Heat added....sorry it didnt get you into plus figures, but counteracted the previous posters cold vote.

You would be hard pushed to get this size portable hard drive any cheaper. I was lucky and got the £20 off deal when that was on, so was a little cheaper.

Looks like we're gonna get all the usual plonkers saying I got one cheaper,THIS IS A 2.5" NOT A 3.5"

Good deal. Will be surprised if anyone can do better for 1 TB PORTABLE external USB Drive. Hot

hot price, i'd mention it's a 2.5" in the topic though for those numpties around.

If you want a great cheap 320gb wd hdd 2.5 for under
£29 check this out.

Did you not see the note in the original post? "Note to newbies: no power cable required!" No wonder this deal was chilly, your reply puts people off.

Thanks. Looks as though common sense has prevailed and we've hit the plus figures now.

the usual trolls making silly comments when they don't know the product.

have some heat

I think this is a very good deal, heat added, would like one but do i need it!!!!

Looking at the Reevoo reviews, why are some people saying it's not USB powered?

that's probably using ports or usb hubs that can't provide enough power....

It's possibly worth noting that I'm not 100% sure the hard drive will fit in the case. It was just the closest product I could find to get the price up to £75 that was relevant. The dimensions suggest it may not, but it looks like it might stretch, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

This one is much bigger than my WD passport. I'm returning the seagate one, it is also double height, which is annoying since in the description it was stated incorrectly.

lol @ the ****storm directed my way, didn't notice it was portable.

i assume this is a 12.5mm drive height?

This the SE version?

Without a doubt. No 2.5" platter holds more than 500 GBs yet.

The one on the right is SE.

I believe Tesco have the specs down for the non-SE product.

Basically, you'll receive the one on the right, and it'll be 1TB.

****, just ordered this from amazon a few days ago and its dispatching so cant cancel.

sizing differences are based on the usb connection being motherboard mounted or attached directly to the hard drive.

Beware, I purchased one of these from PC world as a cheap laptop upgrade but the usb was soldered directly to the hard drive. making for a non standard 2.5 drive.

Managed to reassemble the caddy and return like new for a refund

Just refuse delivery and order from Tesco. Won't cost you a penny to refuse delivery.

COLD

I got a 2tb drive for less than this and mine was 3.5" which is bigger. The extra inch makes all the difference.

Awesome, I've been looking for one of these for a while. I added a 4Gb USB drive to take me over the £75 (which I was also after!)

that because theres always someone

even when its says 'portable' in the title and posters go out the their way to make sure people know its a portable, like int he description

I prefer portable's so much more, the constant pluggin and plugging out of power supply gets so tedious when your using it 10 times a day

Hi, whats the reliability like on these?

I heard different reviews for this WD series, mainly the 3.5" version has power faults due to cheap materials inside.

thats what im wondering

Voted hot as been shopping around and this seems a good price.

I bought a cheap Nintendo DS case from argos (£2!) which is big enough for 2 portable 2.5" drives, has a hard outer cover and looks the biz.

You will also be happy to know that this model does not come with the WD StupidWare & VCD clogging up the valuable space.
