Nice
Ohhh I'm tempted
What's in it, and can it be removed and used as internal?

Probably white label. And yes. Just don't be freaked out by the strange looking plastic thing that looks like a trap. It's just for the front light.
Not available for delivery and no stock in the 36 stores near me.
Hot! I missed out on this price at new year and almost bought it at £120 yesterday. Thanks!

Get it from Amazon the link in the description.
Non in Leeds but Bradford showing.
Reserved - thanks OP.
One of the reviews saying theirs had a white label Blue in is making me think about holding off for an 8TB. Gotta get that Red
Cheaper than on WD's own site at the minute, reserved one anyway. Thanks

Good deal. Tempted, stuck on 4TB drives as my NAS drives right now...
I'm waiting for the My Passport drives to be on offer again. But good price for this one. Rather buy from Amazon.
That connector on the back must be one of the worse ones ever designed. Awkward to plug in to and too easily disturbed in my experience.
Bought from amazon, thanks!

It's a white-labelled Blue. The 8TB and above are white-labelled Reds.
Hot lol but skint
So tempted by this, but I find them a little annoying the way they park the heads...

if you are willing to open it up and connect via SATA that can be turned off with the Ultimate Boot CD with WDIDLE3

Thanks I'll look into this. I have the 5tb and it's annoying when not in use.

Does that shorten its lifespan?

I have 5TB too and inside mine it was a Blue labeled WD50EZRZ and I successfully turned it off with WD Idle, in my notes I have:

wdidle3.exe /r to read the setting and /d to remove it.

I removed it and I think it was originally set to 8

Won't make any difference this feature is to do with power saving: Parking the heads 8 seconds after reading ends (which makes the annoying clunk) allows the disk spin to slow down a bit to save power and generate heat. If the head is not parked then it needs to keep spinning at full power to make the necessary cushion of air that the head floats on.

Actually if your drive isn't properly cooled then I suppose the extra heat from it spinning at full speed constantly could shorten the lifespan but if you are putting it in a desktop or a NAS then the case fans will cool it and it'll be fine.

They wised up to this a long time ago - the last 6TB blue drive I tried to shuck wasn't compatible with wdidle3 (and that was over a year ago!)

If you're looking for cheap NAS drives then the My Book Duo contain reds.
Could I
Nice find. Perfect for a new PC build I am doing.
