I have said this many times about lots of different products,
When a manufacturer sells a used returned or open box or in this case RECERTIFIED product, and they have lots of them, it doesn't make me want to purchase one even if it is half price, it just makes me think "they must go wrong quite easily and will it break easier the second time around? "
And with open box products "why have so many been returned? "
This is my thoughts anyway.

Don't forget the ridiculous postage and packaging
This is a good price, despite the cost of delivery. However, not so keen on WD anymore. Purchased at X-Mas from eBay a portable ssd drive, this was released first in may 2017, checked warranty, expired June 2017. Got in touch with them, was told this particular item was given for testing purposes, not for sale, however if I give them proof of purchase, they may give me warranty. Gave them the order confirmation, they did not like it, they wanted the invoice. Gave them the invoice, they declined warranty, as product issued for testing purposes. What was the point to ask for proof of purchase? Maybe to identify which one of their testers are selling the products? Nothing wrong with the product, just did not like the way WD handled the situation.

Use the trick of pressing back button while viewing cart. It works on Chrome mobile. A pop up will appear with a button to give you free postage. (Credit to superfreddy)

Likewise! £29.99 delivered... Thanks everyone!
You only get 6 month warranty with ‘recertifed’ units compared to the usual 3 years.

shows you how much faith they have in their own products

29.99 is a good price if you get free delivery, don't think you will find s better deal. I never had any problems with my hard drives (none of them WD) and if I would have needed one, I would have got this one. However, as recertified, I don't think the warranty is the problem. I think the problem is how much you trust the device, if what you store on it vanishes...and I also believe WD should have given the full warranty, just to make the customers to trust the brand. At the end of the day, if recertified by the manufacturer and sold by them, the product should last as a new one. The lower price should be due to open box, old stock, customer return, etc not because is recertified.
As above, there is a very good reason you see some many cheap WD and Seagate "recertified" deals; their drives are unreliable crap!!

But also be wary of Windows telling you a drive is going faulty; I have been getting pop ups this morning, yet running a proper diagnostic program on the Toshiba/Hitachi drive tells me there is eff all wrong with it, so why is Win spouting off about it failing?? It has a high "power on" time, everything else shows as perfect, so the OS warning is bullshit.

If this drive DOES eventually fail, I will be most surprised, I havent had a Hitoshi drive fail - EVER. I usually throw them away as too small - ditching several >10 year old, drives last year.

I couldn't get this to work for some reason on the 1Tb. Tried it on the 2Tb for 42.99 and it worked fine. Ah well, more storage for me I guess

same goes for Dyson and iPhone. My experience with WD rectified, Medion refurbished, Asus refurbished was all bad.

I tried it on my laptop (Firefox) and couldn't get it to apply the discount, but it did on my phone (Chrome).

Went for the 2GB MyBook too, same one that I got last time but £3 more expensive than previously ... I can live with that lol.

Thanks to the OP, SuperFreddy and Aaqeel :-)

Thanks for this. Saved me the postage.
ordered one at beginning of the week and realised with horror they order wasnt with wd it was with a company in ireland who sell all wd recetified drives. I used this shower of cowboys about a year ago never did receive anything and when sent emails all i got was a standard response ,had to get paypal involved for a refund but took about a month to sort it all out. They take orders and wait for wd to supply them with the recertified drives but they only trickle through ,so be good to know if anyone has received theirs yet !!!
