Nice price, thanks dragonuk

Argh, Mastercard is going to kill me!

thanks just in time a mk2 as well

Are these anywhere near as notoriously unreliable as the 1st generation MyBooks?

I'll agree with Starman on that. I've gott hat Seagate. Very good, runs cool and quiet. 5 year warranty is very good for an extra tenner.

Also not sure it this is a major thing, but from the look of it the Mybook it doesn't look very stable. The Seagate has a nice large base.

is it better to get a 1TB HDD than 2 of these?

I would personally buy 2. But it depends in power sockets, usb port availability, room onh the desk etc....

It depends, two discs means if one goes pop you still have the data on the other. If you have one and it goes pop you have lost it all.

It depnds upon how important your data is and what backup procedures you have in place.

i got mine from Amazon last week at £67 ******!

Good deal

You can get a refund of the difference if you email them.

Phone amazon, it's quicker, that's what I did.

Phone Amazon, I did, it's quicker that way!

[Edit] Voted hot by the way.

I have 1x 500GB and 1x 750GB, running 24hrs a day, no problems, very quiet, power up and down with PC. Would get the 1TB, but cannot justify at present. [/Edit]

Re the alternative seagate drive. Beware of lots of problems reported here

arewold.wordpress.com/200…ve/

apparently unplugging the light fixes the problem though!

mmmm I have one of these or the older model not sure (bought it at christmas) and it is really noisy. My pc is a c2d 6400 with piles of fans and 4 sata hds and the fan noise from this external drowns it out.

I've got the older 500GB MyBook Premium with firewire and USB2 connections and I'm very, very pleased with it. Can't understand why other posters have commented about them being noisy - although they do give off a very small amount of background hum, it's hardly what I would call noisy! Perhaps their fans are on the blink?

Great deal I've got one Voted Hot this drive comes in as a FAT32 I formatted mine to NTFS and it works like a dream.

Do these work with ps3's?

I emailed to get the difference back, they sent an email confirming this within a few hours! Saves me a phone call as I don't have landline.

I just received some terrible (financial) news and need to cancel my order - already processing though. Anyone know a way of stopping it?

If you contact them before it ships they will cancel it. Either phone or email.

Otherwise you can return it for a refund but you would have to pay shipping back to them.

Or you could refuse delivery but then it gets messy.

However in all scenarios they have probably already charged your card.

only downside- doesnt have on/off switch

Anyone know the difference between this hotukdeals.com/ite…b-/ and the MyBook, apart from the dimensions? I can't seem to find the buffer size for the Elements, has it actually got a buffer? Cheers!

It's not £61.30 as it is from a Market Place seller, so the is another £5 for delivery, so cold.

You're a bit late aren't you? Don't you think people would have noticed in the beginning if the price was for a market seller?

It's gone up a fiver now from Amazon.

have the older type mybook 250gb and 320gb

both brilliant, recommend mybooks.

Ye its meant up a fiver, still a good price tho.

And this is better than the elements one I think.
