You could (pry) open the enclosure and remove the drive to use it in a PC. It is roughly equivalent to a WD Red internal drive which typically are more expensive than this.

According to YouTube videos, you can open the WD cases without destroying them, which is not possible on Seagate drives. So if the drive were to fail, you could put it back into the case and return it.
Is this the current best price per tb for a WD external?

I agree, I wouldn't do it again, bought an sd card, from amazon.de,, it failed, got another from them,,, had to pay to return, then get in touch to get the return postage, it was very light, it would of cost a fortune to send a heavy item, so for all the chew I wouldn't bother if I'm honest, they did tell me it was a prepaid address, but it wasn't. So be aware, that was my experience, wouldn't bother with the hassle
