Been after a good deal on a couple of high capacity drives to use in an upcoming project. Taking my usual browse through the WD recertified section and come across the new WD My Book which they have in stock at 3TB and 4TB. I bought two using code WDSTORECPN to take off £10 over £100 bringing the total to £133.98 for two drives. Now to see how easy this new model is to gut compared to the old chassis! X)

Just when you thought you got a good deal for yourself!

Code gone to Minstadave.

AVOID this joke of a company. Three weeks and they still have the money of various users here and have delivered nothing.

See the comments in this previous deal posted just a few weeks ago: hotukdeals.com/dea…e=3

Had multiple recertified drives from them. Never had any problems
Edited by: "MickyD" 14th May

Rightly mentioned.... I purchased two HD last time.... While chasing up after a week, they mailed me that they are out of stock and they will let me know as soon as able to deliver.

Funnier is that I have received cancelation mail day before yesterday with a reason that they are not able to stock up. Now just after a day, they have the stock. Hopefully I'll get my money back soon.

I had to enquire when I had no further emails a week later to say drive had been shipped. Money had been taken straightaway. I was told drive was in stock when I ordered but not now. No communication to tell me that though, so I cancelled the order as the website states they don't take money until stock is available.
Received refund within 3 days.

Drives are fine, customer service is very poor!

WDSTORECPN worked absolutely fine for as described in my original post.

It's the 20% off code that doesn't work on recertified drives

Is the 20% off code: WDSPRING16 ?
If not, would you mind sharing the 20% off code you have? I'm considering ordering two new 5TB drives.
I tried WDSPRING16 and it doesn't work.

20% will not include recertified products

The 20% codes for use with a future purchase are random alphanumeric characters. They aren't valid for recertified products.

The code you listed was published last year and that should be obvious from the code format as to when it was relevant.

True. cheap marketing strategy by vendor to lure vulnerable customers.

Depends on what code you are referring to. If you are a previous WD customer, as I am, you will receive promo codes by email. My latest code, just received, offers 20% off. It DOES function on listed recertified products !

As I said, I tried my email received code on all the available listed recertified products that I am interested in purchasing. My product basket clearly showed the 20% discount on EVERY product in my basket, plus the standard FREE delivery on any order total over £50. I DO NOT need to prove it. If you register for email promos from WD before buying any products you may get the proof you require !

I've bought two WD refurbs and both failed within a week, can't really recommend them after that!

Would you really trust putting sensitive data on a hard disk that has already failed at some point?

The 6TB works out cheaper per TB

Not sure I'd want a recertified which I guess is a referb backup drive though.

Anyone using promo codes will see the promo box @ the WD basket. Each order will only accept ONE code, as with most sites various codes cannot be stacked. Obviously use the code with the highest discount.

Tried adding the 4TB to my basket but it said it was out of stock so I guess this is expired

Had it in basked but now OOS

Yep. If it's 'sensitive data' then you should ideally have three backups on the go at any point in time. Sure there's less chance of a brand new drive failing but they still do. These recertified drives are cheap options for a third backup and many people have had no problems with them. If you rely on a single hard disk to store sensitive data, whether it's new or recertified, then make sure you invest in a box of Kleenex tissues as you'll need them to wipe away the tears at some point.

Any ideas if this would work for a plex server?

Thanks for sharing OP, have some heat. Sadly the 4 & 6TB drives are OOS, however the 3TB is still available...
I need a cheap USB3 drive for my Xboxes, guess I'll have to wait a little longer...

It is only a hard drive, so you could store files on it, which would need to be accessed by Plex Media Server.

Hi, what email address do they send from. I have purchased from them before but have never had codes - maybe they are going into my junk email.

Sign up to the "notify me when in stock", but last time they sent me an email they went out of stock in less than 5 mins lol

I ordered when 'in stock' on 26th April. Still waiting for it to be despatched.

Recertified products can be notified as in and out of stock within minutes. They are not stocked in UK, but are sent from a european warehouse, usually in the Netherlands, so processing and delivery, usually by UPS can take time. If you are expecting any delivery from UPS, you can sign up on their site for email or phone notifications of due deliveries.

I'm sure those with this much media to store will already have a Kleenex supply.

Anyone know which of their drives contains a 3tb red drive?
