Well spotted! 3TB for £57.99 too.

Recertified drives should only be used for something like Xbox.. I wouldn't put any data I couldn't replace easily. Good price though I paid double this for the same drive last year.
Do these contain the wd reds drives?

If it's the same one I got, they're blue.

I've been the same, used a few of these for the Xbox, and a 1TB one instead of a USB stick (they are fast than most USB sticks and very cost effective, though a little bulkier ).

However, the part about only putting on data you could replace easily..... that should be true for ALL hard drives. Always have backups.
I have to wonder why there are so many recertified drives out there to buy, doesn't exactly give me a lot of confidence! Good only for non critical data like digital downloads.

WD sell millions of new units worldwide. The amount of recertified ones is a drop in the ocean, hence it's always a scramble to buy them when they become available. I've bought quite a few new and recert and I have not noticed a difference.

I do... I have 3 copies of everything I can't replace. I only use virgin drives. I also buy different batches and models. I've experienced multiple drive failures from the same batch of drives in the past. And I won't touch seagate drives anymore for the same reason. Had 7 fail in my lifetime compared to 0 of WD Remember the 3tb Samsung spinpoints?
My point is only use them for non-critical applications. Not in raids and not in backups. Who wants the stress of rebuilding a raid from that final disk that's working. Always a bum clenching moment..
Just used the plex code to get £14 off the hard drive. Well worht the £3.99 monthly fee (with 30 days free trial). Awesome. Will use as a second back up for data.

I've only had one WD failure in the last 10 years. It was an external 1tb drive.
Just what I needed! Only made a few videos using Final Cut Pro and my 500gb is almost full
Got mine 2 days ago. Looked new, however after using it for a few hours, it kept powering off. I tried everything to keep it alive, different adapter, USB cable, USB port, but to no avail. I requested an RMA and found that I would have to pay for the postage to get the drive replaced! Complained about this and they will be sending me a prepaid postage label. Sadly I had already put over 100gb of data on the drive before it started dying on me. And I foolishly deleted the original data. Lesson learnt... Test the hell out these things before relying on them. The drive stated it was recertified in Vietnam. Hope this helps others.

Sorry for the late reply. They did after a few phone calls and them owning up that they sent me a dead on arrival device. The emails they apparently sent with a UPS label never arrived after 2 attempts. I then had to call them again to send me a pdf label, which I then received. At that point I had already had the hard drive for over 2 weeks. Pretty poor service to be honest. I'm hoping the next one I receive will work out the box as it should. Let's see.

Finally got my replacement drive. This was recertified in Poland. Only took them a month to resolve a dead on arrival drive
