Good price. It has WD reds inside which are normally £200+ each for 8tb.
Good find, heat added
I would wait until Black Friday personally, if you are looking for cheap hard drives. There were some amazing Prime Day deals on WD double enclosures, and I am expecting this to be replicated next Friday.
Would be better off with 2 of these

Not necessarily. The cloud and desktop raid drives have reds inside. The desktop singles have white label drives which are a bit like reds.

The WD my book you linked contains a WD white drive and you will void any warranty you have by removing it.

The my cloud home duo has two WD reds and are easily removed without voiding the warranty.

But yes, if you don't care about warranty and want 2 x white drives you can save money by buying 2 of the my books and removing the drives.
compared to this: amazon.co.uk/WD-…VN2

is the only difference the capacity and the cloud part?

reason i ask is that i had the 20tb back on prime day for approx same price as this.

so not sure to wait for 20tb to get a reduction, or just jump in now on this...

Not really - this is network attached storage, NAS, (i.e. plug it into your router and access from all machines on network/online), your link is to a direct attached drive (USB) to connect to one machine.

Different use cases, a direct attached drive might have faster transfer speeds, depending on your network, although on uncongested Gigabit ethernet the physical hard drives will probably still be the bottleneck.

The NAS is designed to be on 24/7, whereas someone posted an Amazon review where they claimed that Western Digital told them the desktop devices are only designed for sporadic use after theirs overheated.

Too late now anyway as this has sold out.

Yeah I agree last Prime Day I picked up three 16Tb WD My Drive Duos for £280 each. If you can wait, they'll be better prices to be had

good, as I just refreshed screen and saw they had sold out!
Just to be clear to anyone thinking of buying this - this is not the update ‘my cloud’ - it’s totally different so don’t go complaining it doesn’t do what your old one did....
Works fine for me generally..plex and backup pics etc...
Seems a tad wasteful having mirrored drives with little benefit for a home system as you lose half the drive capacity
Amazing price when it was available. Now seems to be back up to its usual price.
