Prepare for a tonne of comments about buying old, broken drives with no warranty, about people who bought 40 of these only to discover they were all dead on arrival and about how someone else only ever buys Seagate after a WD drive failed and has never had an issue with Seagate 3TBs.

Seems no stock anywhere. Not available for home delivery

Shame, no ethernet connection...

I have a 2tb version. They screwed them with a change of firmware that completely removed the option to safely shut the drive down. I contacted their support team and that's it, they aren't changing anything. Poor support but I only paid about £35 when Asda sold off their remaining stock.

I have the older version of this and it definitely does, the pictures on curry's website also show one on this model.

Are you sure?
Defeats the reason for having a personal cloud over just a back up drive surely.

Copied and pasted from the specs for this - Network connectivity - Ethernet x 1

already have one of the offline recertified drives for use with my xbox one works perfectly will look out for the 3tb online nas coming back in stock.

such a shame, out of stock everywhere. Not available instore or online. I wonder how many they even had in the first place. Could this all be fake hype for their current sales promotion? "50% off loads of products" (that we dont have in stock). Or am i just being over cynical because i didnt get one? (been watching the price on these for ages).

***update*** Spoke to someone at headoffice who confirmed no longer in stock anywhere and will not be coming back into stock, hence 'clearnace'....... No answer given for why the products are still listed on the site if you cant actually buy them though...

I'm going through their tortuous customer support at the moment as their latest firmware update has made it unusable, can access the drive through windows but the light is stuck on white so no dashboard, app access etc.

Could this be used to record home security video?

I wish I'd not touched their firmware update on mine! If you can get these dirt cheap then fair enough, but I'd look elsewhere for a half decent NAS if not. Each to their own though.

looks like the 1tb and 2tb are in stock the others aren't i am reluctant to order though with some people saying the new firmware has been a disaster. I own a mac book pro windows 10 ipad pro etc so something like this would be good but if its not going to work with the new mac os its probably going to lose that element of usefulness that i'd hoped for.

NICE!. :-)

Yeah I was planning on getting the 6tb earlier but reading this post about new software update being crap I think I'll give it a miss! Plus I'm not a big tech guy so portable hard drive would be ok for me right now! Waiting for the portable SSD to go cheaper as well !!!

THESE ARE ok for storing your flies on there , but really compared to something like a qnap or synology they are very poorly served. basic backup and retrieval ok anything else not so much. Tried one of these out for plex and the plex app downloads but simply fails to respond ... no off button .. quite light on tesla juice tho.
I would avoid unless all you need is basic file backup/retrieval.

I collected my 4TB earlier paying £124.97, had a wander round shop and spotted shelf edge was £114.97! So back to desk and £10 refund given.

Already have one so this is extension, current one is used for combination - phone (ios and android) backup to it and also have it loaded with music and videos. Sonos streams music from it and VLC on my AndroidTV streams movies. No issues experienced.

Connected my new iMac to it yesterday and VLC was able to stream movies and Itunes music. Wasnt overly intuitive but then this is my first mac so not sure I added it as a network drive as I should/could have.

Sad to hear the latest firmware is that bad. Haven't updated mine in around 6 months due to hacking it and installing a torrent and nzb client, which it is superb for. It's been running 4 months 24/7 since the last reboot and not a single problem. If you're after something to store films on for upnp streaming, you could do far worse.

Hi, would you kindly let me know which one is bad, I just get the cloud and doing set up, not much details about the firmware, waste me lot of time. So please could you let me know? thanks in advance.

Or if I leave it on and it download itself, any chance I could back to the older firmware, anyone knows? Thanks

Hi I am looking for a NAS to store my photos - new to all of this. Any ideas what I should be looking for?
