2TB*
ordered one. seems cheap enough for a storage dumping ground..
A great deal on a great product! 2TB is a good size too.
But I'm still not sure I would trust my precious files to be backed up on a recertified drive, unless they were redundantly backed up elsewhere too.
Never had a problem with these but it’s a good idea to run a full sector scan when you get one.Takes ages though.

I can understand that but I would say that this should be the case with any drive, new or refurb, as you just never know when anything can fail for sure.
got one last week, quality item heat added
I bought the WD elements 1tb drives 7 months ago. Unboxed last night. It doesn't appear anywhere once connected to my PC even though it lights up & 'whirrs'.

Any advice please? Thanks

Have you tried connecting it to a different usb port? Or different computer. If that doesnt work.. It's probably dead, does it make a light clicking sound as well?
Seems decent enough so far but the drive is very loud compared to my Samsung 2TB drives. Constantly whirring away whereas the Samsungs are practically silent.

Tried 2 ports, no joy. No clicking sound.

Not tried it on another computer as I need it specifically for my PC & data transfer.

But its outside the 6 month warranty period now

Have you formatted it? Go into disk management on windows and if it’s showing there but a bold black line next to it, it simply isn’t formatted or if your using Mac then use disk utility. Otherwise if it’s not showing in either of those it is a dead drive.

I'm using a PC / Windows. That's as technical as I get!

I just bought to plug & play.

If I connect my Flash drive, it shows up. I can see it. But the Hard drive doesn't show up at all.

What is this Disk Management process?

Sorry to say that your drive might have snuffed it. Open up disk manager and see if it can be detected, if not theres not much else you can do I'm afraid. At least you know it's a dud before you've transferred important data to it.
Will this hard drive work fine with Xbox 1/PS4?

Thanks

Use Windows+R to open Run (or just type run in the search bar), type diskmgmt.msc in the empty box and tap OK.

If it's working you'll see the drive in there, possibly unformatted.

Can you recommend a program that does this? I'm tempted to pick up one of these drives but the re-certified label is slightly off-putting.
is there delivery fees?
Thanks, ordered.

Yes I have mine in my xb1x.
Hot! Thanks, ordered.
Anyone know if you can rip the hdd out from these and shove into a ps4

I dont think so. Im sure there is a youtube video of dissassembly ( might be in a foreign language, but still obvious), that clearly shows that the USB3 port is soldered into the circuit board. The drive is not a SATA drive with a removable USB connector. I stand to be corrected as at £40 these would be a bargain as an internal PS4 drive.

Try contacting them anyway and explain the situation, I've not dealt with WD but I have had a couple of out of warranty replacements before.
Got one in blue. Thanks OP!

So just plug it in via usb compartment?

You can save your games onto it? It’s ridiculous consoles come with 500gb when games are 50gb each!
Does anybody know the HDD model inside? I tend to break the drive out and use it in a PC.
Ordered 2tb in Blue, thanks.

Xbx1x comes with 1tb but you are right. Ideally they want to whack 2 in. 1 tb standard and 500gb SSD for games you play often.

Looks like its blues buy USB soldered on to drive controller so can't use it for internal use:
Very very good price just ordered 2tb, have some heat.

Any of you boys on Gears of War 4?? Add me Coolio126
Blue one ordered thanks for the heads up.
1TB for £28.99 is still a bargain.
I wouldn’t use these for data but what they are good for is PS4/Xbox external drives, none of the data that goes on them will be lost if it dies, you just lose a day or 2 redownloading everything.
Top work op

Yes likewise.. great price. No drive is bullet proof but like you I'd prefer new for 'peace of mind' backup.

WD have one on their site for their drives. Can't remember it's name without sticking my machine on, but it works really well. Like someone else has said, it takes a while for a thorough check of sectors.
