These have dropped under the £50 mark. Remember this is for a USB 3.0 HD not just USB 2.0

The silver one is £44.97 if you aren't fussed about colour.

it does not require external power from a 3 pin plug as it just stores data similar to a usb

Its a great, no idea why it ain't gone hot

Can these be used to watch files on a tv, I heard that it requires a password to access the data. So what happens when I plug it in directly into the TV?

anyone got any details of speed or cache size for this drive?

It's a good deal, but I really don't rate this product. Bought one for my sister last Christmas and the USB port on the HD stopped working after 6months. This is a known fault and is quite common too.

It is fast as it's a USB 3.0

It is fast as it's a USB 3.0

well its fast assuming that you have USB 3.0 on your computer or space on your computer to install it

My passport works but shows as needing a driver in device manager. This was on the drive when I got it but I didn't realise and reformated. I downloaded it, it now displays a scsi icon. But honestly I'd have rather a drive that didn't do this.

Silver version is £44.97

I've been looking for an external drive to use with my apple tv (the old white 160gb model). I have hacked it using firecore.com/atv…ash so that it plays divx etc, and also supports external drives through the enabled usb port.

Flash drives are recognised but my iomega 1tb desktop drive isnt. Can anyone tell me if this one will work, or if Amazon will let me return it if it doesnt?

Thanks

Could it by you flash drives are fat 32 format and your 1tb iomega is ntsf ?. If so you would need to format the drive using swissknife (freeware) or similar to fat 32. The down side would be that you would only be ok with films up to 4 gig, not over unless u split them.

I hope they upgraded the mini usb slot, I got a non-usb3 one ages ago and the mini usb connection is very loose, causing the drive to keep disconnecting.Possibly corrupting data

can you open these up and swap the hard drivesx out? woudl like to put the hard rive inside this into my laptop and put my 60gig laptop drive into the enclose. would this be possible?
