it says 3 year warranty
Brilliant, ordered one in silver, that's a very good price for this drive. I'd had loads of WD recertified external drives previously and all really good quality, good as new I've found.
Please be aware that it seems, even after I have repeatedly pointed it out to Western Digital, they are still in breach of the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015.
You are entitled to a refund if the item is faulty or fails within 30 days.
You are also not responsible for return postage costs to Poland (yes I kid you not) all other defective products are returned to Swindon but not recertified items. Also the cheapest option for return postage is not available it must be using other methods/carriers that cost in excess of £15.
Your emails will be ignored until such time as, in my case PayPal refunded me and then WD will then contact you with a paid returns label.
To be fair I've only had one of their recertified drives fail but it wasn't a pleasant experience.

How is this a good price for a recertified driver? Sorry cold from me.
@miss_moneypenny where did you find this coupon code?
11.55% TCB too!

Might be worth doing your research, Amazon sells this exact model new for £69.83. Makes this a very good price, all the WD recertified external drives I've bought have been like new anyway.

Got the code from another deal post - my sister bought the yellow 2TB drive yesterday and she told me about the extra £5 discount. I was browsing the WD store this afternoon and saw this less bulky drive. This is the deal with the code: hotukdeals.com/dea…303
Will this work for a external ps4 drive??
ramraideruk04/05/2020 18:52

11.55% TCB too!

Not showing on there at all for me?
EDIT: I see it if I search "WD". (but the rate is 5.95%).

WD 2.5" are usually not shuckable, seagate 2.5" usually are

I know have a few still going strong. But I have not paid more then £20 per tb for recertified.

This is the brand new model, and the "ultra" too, not the standard, cheaper model. It's usb C that you're paying the premium for I guess (plus the software if you actually use it).

As already stated, this is in fact only £2.50 per tb more than your £20 threshold if you've used the code.
Have you notice a lot of WD recertified products for sale? They may have a lot of returns which makes you think about quality.
Buying recertified disc is a gamble but you may be lucky. The deal above is quite good as this is the newest model with usb C port and the most important it comes with 3 years warranty (normally is only 1 year or less).

I've bought a few of these recertified drives. One desktop drive came and did nothing, used a spare USB cable and it sprang into life. The other one, a portable ultra drive died in 2 days.
That was when the fun began with WD saying I had to pay return postage to Poland. Repeated online chats and emails explaining UK law with screenshots, meant nothing to them. They didn't reply to even one email, so when I contacted PayPal and they got the same response I got refunded.
All of a sudden WD contacted me with a prepaid postage label. Should have told them to stick it but the drive was of no use to me.
Once many years ago I had another WD fail (new not recertifiedl.) It was 9 months into a 3 year warranty. They shipped a replacement which turned out to be a well used 2nd hand HDD with a very short warranty, which they wouldn't increase.
If you post a customer service complaint on their message boards they block you, so you keep having to sign up with new emails.
WD warranty policy :Recertified product purchases made on the WD Store website:

  • Prior to August 20, 2019, carry a manufacturer's limited warranty of 6 months.
  • On or after August 20, 2019, carry a manufacturer's limited warranty of 12 months.

However for this particular disc website states 3 years limited warranty. I wonder which one is true.
20% off with perks at work
I did have to return the drive on this occasion, opened up the package and as soon as I picked it up noticed it rattling about inside. Returned no problem for a full refund.
