8tb or 2x4tb?
Edited by: "HavocLP" 1st Feb
Bought one yesterday.. it's come down £3.

Ensure you check the remaining warranty using the link below - should be three years.

My drive arrived cold so you might want to get it up to room temperature before testing whether it's sounding OK etc

8tb or 2x4tb?

2x8TB
or better 3x8TB RAID5
or even better 5x8TB RAID5
Ordered this yesterday and it came today. Drive was well packaged so very secure during transit.

Currently transfering 4Tb of data over to it :-)
Next step is to get an external 8Tb to back it up.

Have Amazon learnt how to pack hard drives or do they still put the bare drive in the same box they ship DVDs in?
Edited by: "thenormalone" 2nd Feb
I won't be buying any more WD hard drives from Amazon; purchased one of these recently direct from Amazon, and it is OEM and cannot be registered for the 3 year warranty on WD's site. Only covered by Amazon's 2 year guarantee.

Came well packaged. I had it delivered to one of their lockers. Was in a box with packaging and inside contained another box with the HDD that had stabilising packaging to prevent damage on drops.

I read the package word of others too and was prepared to return but no regrets. Haven't yet tested yet as going to order another one.
still too expensive, £100 in usa inside a wd easystore

Please dont bite his head off for trying to help. A friendly note to say you are referring to the previous poster would have been a better way of handling this.

Actually if you were referring to the post above yours it was rather foolish not to quote it!

My Amazon 6TB RED (OEM) registered for 3 years in December just fine at the WD site. The trick is not to include the "WD-" at the start.

Mine doesn't have a WD at the start of the serial. Contacted WD, and they told me it was not valid for the 3 year warranty.

Not sure why then, my drive is OEM like yours and registered for 3 years, only difference is capacity. Was yours sold by Amazon themselves or by another seller?

Bought over 5x WD reds and 3 Seagate Ironwolfs from Amazon. Never once had a problem with warranty or packing. Seems like you're a one off.
