can't see it online to check local stock.

The new blue box was priced at £99 and I think it is online as well, but the Orange-Black one was for £23. I can't find it online either.

Great deal if you can find it

Plays MKV, might get one

None I wakefield. Store specific I guess

There was one in Doncaster ( town centre store) Saturday. It was towards the back on the right hand side not with the other clearance stuff.

Was there anymore in the Sheffield branch?

One available in Currys Telford. Was going to buy it, but it's 3 years old now and my recent NowTV box does the same with Plex installed and is cheaper.

Voted Hot anyway

Agreed! Haven't voted any heat, now TV is the way to go for a cheap media server!

Maybe, but the NowTV box doesn't have Netflix. We have this WD box in the bedroom which the other half uses all the time to watch Netflix in bed....which gives me peace in the living room X)

Now on the other hand the sooner the NowTV app is released for the Chromecast the sooner I can upgrade my entire house

Thanks. There's a Wetherspoons next to my local Curry's. I might become distracted

Bit old hat now, most decent smart tv's can do all of the above and more without the need for another box.

Would like to get one for my dad in India, where the internet speed is patchy.

Will get movies into a HD and connect to this, so that he can watch them as well without worrying about internet speeds.

Will this work?

New tv if the old one doesn't cut the mustard tbh.

Chromecast and Plex for me these days.

Why would I need to, I just stream them directly from my PC using Plex

That's ok if you have something to act as a Plex server. That takes the value away.

some of us dont want the hassle and cost of running two devices when one does the job

my wdtv acts as a server to my pcs, consoles etc

And some of us don't want the hassle of having to copy downloaded films and shows etc on to a memory card to take to the living room to watch when we can just stream directly from the PC.

I'm not saying this deal is bad and if you look back i voted it hot, but it's old tech and dearer than a now tv box that can do pretty much the same. It's called choice

My TV cost £1500 5 years ago & more than cuts the mustard.
Would look to upgrade once 4K channels become available, but until then, I dont see the point.

i just copy films to my wdtv hdd over wifi

I can stream to my wdtv from my PC but why would anyone want to steam 20gb films this way

sickbeard even downloads all my favorite tv shows and copies them to my wdtv hdd as soon as I stick my PC on lol

Is the other half a man or a woman?

There are a couple in Blackpool.

We have one and it's really good. Allows you to play US netflix as it's one of the few devices that allows setting the DNS manually (apple TV is another).

Streams from our NAS in another room effortlessly too. Latest firmware has sped it up a little too.

Recommended if you can find one!
