I run an ebay and amazon webshop and use my own hosting for the pictures, as well as a few other websites. It's coming up for renewal, and I've been looking around for a better deal. I've realised though I can't find a better deal, even though it's gone up £10 - I'm only paying £54.99 a year for this package, they have not bumped it up for existing customers! So, for anyone looking, I suggest you give this a look.

There's a full spec table on the link, but essentially it includes everything you need.

5gb space / 50gb monthly transfer
1 x free domain name
Full C-Panel configuration
No stupid artificial limits on extra domains and subdomains.

As well as that you get all the cool bits on cpanel, full DNS settings, you can do whatever you want with email, and they also have fantastic deluxe on there, which is very handy for plopping a complete configured framework onto there for wordpress, OS Commerce, or any of a number of other forum, suport tickety and other funky web things.

Oh, and I've used the tech support (browser instant messaging) a good few times in the 3 years or so I've been with em, and they've been quite helpful and responded fairly quickly each time.

Read into it a bit more.....

Fasthostingdirect looks like it's unlimited hosting for a single domain. This package allows as many domains as you want (and subdomains).

You need the reseller package to have multiple domains off the same hosting... which fasthosts charges £99 for.

Not a fair comparison - but for single domains fasthostingdirect.co.uk/ ain't bad at £19.99 per year.

I managed to get 2 years for £19.99 last year when they had a promotion on.

Nah it's always helpful for people to see all the options. I've just recommended fasthosting to a mate who just wants one website

I run about 8 diff domains off my single eukhost hosting package

You know any that cater for Windoze? Need IIS, .NET FW 3.5 and MSSQL man!

Any good Magento hosts out there? Im using Evohost at the moment at £20 a month.

Also a good cheap host for £6 a month is Relichost.

eUKhost have a silly validation system. I tried signing up with them from work, and naturally I input my home phone number, only to find out they do a surprise phone call check for validation... so I can't sign up unless I'm at home. Not good first impressions. Anyone used them before?

Well, me for a start, the support has always been good. Lots of companies do the phone check, e.g. ebay when you signup a seller account.

Gonna look into fasthosting, does look a bit like a back room operation, but nowt wrong with that if the products good! I'm always a bit wary of places that offer "unlimited", when it comes to space and bandwidth, when the price is this good!

No Cpanel on FH either (it's licensed software, if they offer it they would advertise the fact), though it does mention some sort of web control panel, probably be webmin, nowhere near as user friendly as cpanel. Hmm. I am out of space on my gold package though at euk and would rather pay less than more!

Ok looking at it, to get the same features as eukhost, you need the reseller pack, which is £99 for 2 years. Still cheaper though, and unlimited space! But not quite as clear cut as it seems.

DNS management, your own nameservers, fantastico, cpanel etc. (which are included on eukhost) are all ONLY on the fasthostingdirect reseller deal. Which I'm strongly thinking about signing up for now

I've thought about learning Magento - having looked into other e-commerce solutions I found it comes up a lot. I've also heard / seen it can be quite slow. Are you running it on a dedicated server? I'd be interested to know how you get on with it...

I really recommend Vidahost, I have found the service to be very good. They set up fast and the hosting looks like good value to me.

clanteam hosting works for me, cheap and reliable.

I'm running Magento on Hostmonster. Definitely not the quickest but it is pretty reliable. Magento is never going to be quick on any shared server though - depends what you're using it for I suppose. Does me just now - just getting started - first site.

Any ideas for another Magento host :o)

Id suggest get in touch with Fasthosting direct and ask them what you want. They might be able to sort you out. They have for me!!

I'm now with fasthostingdirect, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. Speedy setup, friendly but professional communications, and my reseller package with WHM and Cpanel seems fast and responsive. I've already setup a handful of websites on there and have had no problems so far. It will also support Magento, and they provide not 1, not 2, but three different auto installers, installatron, softalicious as well as the common fantastico deluxe, which between them offer a huge range of one click deployable webby stuff
