When the sun warms your face and everything about today wants you to stay outside. Ignite the coals of your Bar-B-Kettle® charcoal barbecue and treat yourself to the taste of succulent barbecued food. The classic version of the kettle barbecue was invented by George Stephen in 1952 and has been a favourite choise for the barbecue enthusiasts ever since. The elegant shiny black finish makes this barbecue great for experimenting with the different barbecuing methods and it is capable of cooking many different types of food. The Weber Bar-B-Kettle® grill copes well with the basics such as sausages and burgers but is equally for home cooking and more adventurous foods such as fish, seafood or even grilled fruit.

With the Weber Gourmet Barbecue System (GBS) you can barbecue for hours without a care in the world. The cooking grate is hinged, making it easy to add more charcoal, rearrange briquettes or replenish wood chips by simply flipping up the grate with your tongs. So sit back, relax, and barbecue.

Seems cheap for a Weber
Great price.
Heat
To be honest you really need a 57 cm one if you want to use GBS, but it is a great price for a weber
Cheaper here: bbqworld.co.uk/m/w…asp

Same/similar price on several other sites too.

That seems to be the compact one - it's not as deep. I'd guess that's important with a little bbq like this. I'm gonan take a look tomorrow and see if this guy is big enough.

My bad, you're right. Does seem to be a good price in that case. Would have thought the cooking area would be the same in both though? Let us know.

I think the cooking area is the same, but the depth for the coal is less I guess? I'd imagine it would not stay hot as long. By the way, this is 49.99+ VAT in store at Costco! seems a good deal.
How does this differ in quality to the one that was going for £20 at Homebase?

yes, much better build quality and heat retention is much better also.

You get a pretty comprehensive weber warranty too.
A great little kettle this one. I stuck a narrow nomex seal on the lid and use this for smoking smaller cuts of meat etc. Or if I’m doing a big cook I may use this one to compliment the 57cm.
We have the compact one and it’s a brilliant bbq. Perfect for a family of 4. Like others have said the deeper base on this will only improve the heat inside when the lid is on. These are worth paying the extra as they are bullet proof and will last years. Perfect bbq for the caravaners on here

It won't have rotten through when you go to use it next year
Those cheap BBQs are just not worth the investment, they never last. Whereas my Weber I have had for five years and it's still very good condition and it lives outside all year. Just a quick spray off with the pressure washer come summer and it's good as new.
These are great for smoking too - experimented with it last year though I have the larger sized one and cooked up some pork belly, ribs etc. Dead easy, just put down a snake of coals round the outside with some oak chips on and pop out every hour or so to give it a quick spray of apple cider.

£89.99 in Amazon now
Expired, back to £99.99
I saw 2 of these at this price at Costco Southampton this afternoon (at end of the aisle with the paint and brush’s etc).. Great price with the Gourmet Barbecue System Grill.
