Weblock is FREE for a limited time.
---
Weblock - AdBlock for iOS - allows you to block online content. It can block mobile ads (banners and popups on websites and in other apps), statistics, user tracking, script or images. It also allows you to block specific websites, like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, social widgets from websites. You can even define your own content filters. Using Weblock you can block basically any network resource! Since v3.0 you can also use Weblock's redirect feature to emulate /etc/hosts entries for HTTP and HTTPS protocols.

Weblock has a constantly growing and updated list of predefined filters for you to choose from. It also allows you to create your own domain, URL or IP filters.

Weblock will work on any Wi-Fi enabled iOS device, including iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Your unique configuration link can be synced between all your iOS devices using iCloud.

Here are some situations in which Weblock might come in handy:
• block annoying ads (text ads, banners and popups) in almost every app you use! (it works with YouTube, Pandora and many, many more...). It's not limited just to web browsing like in other ad blocking apps.
• disable majority of ads on websites you visit on your iOS device! It doesn't matter which browser app you use! Weblock works with Safari, Chrome and other browsers (currently not supported: Puffin Browser).
• easily remove all facebook widgets and plugins (like buttons, comments, etc.) on sites you visit - simply disable facebook plugins in Weblock! Do the same thing for Twitter, Google+ and many others.
• take control of the way your friends or family use their iOS - you can configure any device to use your Weblock account and disable/enable any content, any time, directly from your own device.
• if you wish to block something else, you can create your own rules and filters. You can block any URL (with regular expressions), domain or IP address. Don't know how? Let us know - we're here for you.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
WEBBLOCK IS NOT JUST ANOTHER PROXY SERVER - YOUR PRIVACY IS SAFE!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Unlike other content filtering products, Weblock DOES NOT act as a proxy server for all your traffic, so your connection stays direct, fast and private!

Due to system limitations, Weblock can work only while you are connected to Wi-Fi networks. Data plan connections (GPRS/Edge/3G/LTE) are currently not supported (but it is a work in progress, please follow us on Twitter to keep up to date).

Blimey.... it works pretty damn good!

Thanks

Did you have to enable the wifi proxy to get the filters to work?

Surprised Apple allow this considering it cuts into their profits!

Brilliant, cheers!! Works fantastically with YouTube. Also Cartoon HD!

It should automatically block ads in apps and in the browser if you rooted, if your not rooted take a look at this guide:
valuewalk.com/201…es/

Be aware that if your on OVIVO, blocking ads is against their terms of use and they can terminate your service with no warning.
I have heard of people who have had this happen to them.

Problem is for me, adblock won't work on my university network, it uses a proxy server, which when setup there is no connection

Will it work on spotify?!!!

I highly doubt it - spotify ads are different

Not too sure I want all of my web traffic going through their proxy. Whose to say they aren't logging it all and mining it for passwords?

I already setup a semi-adblock system on my devices using OpenDNS to blacklist the ad servers and also by activating the Webspam and Adware filters. This blocks quite a few annoying ads but not all of them, However your data is safe as OpenDNS is trustworthy and I am not going through a proxy so my internet speed is always 100%.

My method only blocks around 30 or so of the main adservers but this app blocks literally all of them, I will have to test this out. Good find.

Just found this quote from the developers.

"What Weblock does and how it does it, just to avoid the confusion: When you set up your WiFi to use proxy Weblock automatic configuration, our host sends a list of blocked adservers (a set of rules) to your phone. The whole filtering process is done on your device. It's your device job to decide how to connect to a specific resource, based on these rules. If a resource matches one of the rules, your device will attempt to connect to it through a proxy server, which is a dummy proxy and will simply block this attempt. What is important is that any other traffic (which didn't match one of the rules) is DIRECT and does not go through any proxy."

Ok back again reporting my findings. It works incredibly well and does block every single advert in Safari, It makes browsing so much better as it stops popups from loading and banners from redirecting to the app store. I installed it on my iPhone and iPad. There is no drop in speed.

Apparently how this works is very similar to my method of using a DNS to block domains. THIS IS NOT A PROXY. They use Google DNS (A fast and reliable DNS server) to setup a blacklist of ad serving domains. Whenever you go on a site the DNS will work behind the scenes and stop the connection to the specific ad server and thus blocking the ads from appearing. Nothing goes through a proxy so your data is secure.

This is just a clever workaround as Google DNS does the legwork while the developer or App does not need to do anything.

good app,, thanks OP

Great thanks

Just installed and working great.

I'm not sure about this, the ads are why the apps are free. Unless extremely intrusive, why both removing them?

for apps I totally agree with you but I personally don't play any ad supported apps as they are usually rubbish anyway. But for browsing the web I cannot do without ad block on my desktop so I am looking toward to using this and see if it improves browsing the web on my ipad
