Anyone know if this is any good? It looks awesome and would no doubt be fun

Any idea what type of cylinders it takes? They sell them cheaply in screwfix and wonder if they are compatible.

I had a large Sheen paraffin weedkiller many moons ago that must be the equivalent of a dozen of these gas burners. They do not kill the weeds, only burn the leaves and slow down the re-growth. This gas burner would be like using a blowtorch.

I have one to light my bbq and I love it

I have one and it kills the weeds but it kills all the insects as well and for this reason I don't use it anymore...

I have one. If there is a breath of wind the flame will blow out. The leaves burn if they are dry, i.e. if it hasn't rained for quite some time but the roots aren't touched and it consumes gas at an alarming rate. I prefer weedkiller. Not as much fun but more effective.

i thought hotukdeals had gone all gangster there for a second

I have one of the more expensive 'weed wands'. So OK they work but they're a BLOODY EXPENSIVE way of getting rid of weeds once you factor in the cost of the gas cannisters (which last about 45 mins each - if you're lucky)

use mine (Wilkos) almost exclusively for frikkin hairy bittercress that can grow and set seed (in explosive capsules) while still a tiny plant hugging the ground. Better than trying to manually weed from heavy compacted soil or not to trigger the explosive mechanism. Its an expensive weedkiller but can be used when sprays cannot (ie most days its too windy) and close to non targets.

Hot.

The floor, the floor , the floor is on fire !!

Good idea, I might buy one to use on wasps this summer!! I'd love to catch them mid flight and watch them crash and burn.

not good for the environment and will not kill the weeds, has same effect as using the strimmer you probably already have on them, plus another thing you have to hide from the kids

The main point is to have an integrated solution. This one tends to be highly effective on the sides of driveway/pavements etc. The other weeds need your help to get rid of them.!

Got one, takes ages to have any effect at all - total waste of time, weedkiller (or cheap table/cooking salt [from Lidl @ 30p/Kg] which is less toxic if you have pets) does a far better job on path weeds.

Only use is for lighting a garden fire, but that's a waste of time if you have a garden recycling bin as that's far less bother as well as less nuisance.

Surely a can of deodorant and a cigarette lighter is just as much fun, plus it'll smell nicer!

you think tis will be good keeping thieves away?

surely on a pathway it would leave scorch marks on the stone

what a useless idea!

An expensive way of killing weed leaves without actually killing the weeds so you'll have to do this every week!

sodium chlorate ftw lol

just use boiling water - at least that actually kills the root!
