Well priced Goodyear tyres - claim up to £40 cashback (various sizes) @ kwik-fit.com

I needed a pair of tyres so set about searching online. I saw Kwik-Fit had 25% off Pirelli but even then they were more expensive than other places but then I saw they had cashback on Goodyear Tyres.

I ordered a pair of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 225/40/r18 92Y tyres for £210 including mobile fitting, disposal, balancing etc. I will then get 5% cashback using TopCashback which will knock them down to approx £200 (not sure if it's paid on ex. VAT price) and then I can claim another £20 back from Kwik-Fit making them approx £90 each inc. fitting. If you buy 4 then you get £40 cashback.

Not a deal for everyone but this makes KwikFit the cheapest place for these at the moment. Usually I would avoid them like the plague but I'm sure they can fit tyres ok if nothing else...

Here are the reviews for this tyre, they are far better than the reviews for the Pirelli P Zero or the cheaper Toyo Proxes T1 Sport:

Cashback has tracked at £10.60

Suggest look at Costco offers if a member. Often have mitchellin tyres with cash back offers

Looks like they offer £30 cashback (in Costco vouchers) for the equivalent of what I bought, can't see the tyre prices though as I am not a member.

Got a link directly to the Goodyears? Can't find them and at £90 fitted a corner, that's a good buy.

If you care about your alloys take pictures of them beforehand, as they'll likely come back with damage.

Would have given heat - except its Kack-Fit.

Every time these cowboys have touched my car they have broken something (leaving me to fix)

I have searched my spec again and now no Goodyears are in the results... Very odd, maybe look again later?

I will be taking photos of my alloys as they are pristine. They are replacing them on my drive so will keep an eye on them too.

You do realise the majority of drivers run the same tyres all year round... Which in most cases are summer tyres.

Very few swap over to a dedicated winter set.

To be honest I don't change my tyres from season to season and it's not caused me any problems to date.

if they're not available and you want this size, halfords are doing these at roughly same price for two also with 5% tcb. - but can't match that extra £20 back, great spot.
i need 235, and it's annoying how cheap these 225's are in comparison.

as an aside, halfords are doing falken fk453's in this size for £87 - £10 pair and 5% tcb (so £78 each) and can recommend them highly as an alternative.

I also need 235 and using this deal it comes to ~£117 (ignoring tcb) each when buying 2 which is the cheapest I can see them for. There do appear to be 2 types of the Eagle F1 A2 where one has a lower decibel level and better wet grip .... KF don't appear to do that one.

At £78 each, I'd get Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. By far the grippiest tyre I've had on any car and the tread pattern is pretty boss as well

After some winter tyres, never bought before, so anyone know which are good brands and cheapish
Size = 225/45r17 91V

in my experience 17" winter tyres are hard to come by for a reasonable price. I resulted in buying a set of 16" steel wheels and fitting 16's - ths also made the swap easier. alloys with summers for errr the summer and winter tyres for post November blues.

mytyres.co.uk is likely the cheapest place to buy winter tyres. then swing by a local fitter slip him a tenner and see if he'll do the fitting.

If you are using the mobile fitting service make sure you take them for a test before you let them leave. Last time I had the mobile fitting they made a complete mess of balancing the fronts - anything over 60 resulted in terrible steering wheel vibration.

Typical of Kwik Fit standards i'm afraid.

I used to use mytyres but they stopped being competitive - instead I always check out camskill first. Not always the cheapest, but sometimes some mega bargains (I saved £50 on toyos once).

For example they're doing the eagles at £89.95 each with £5.95 shipping (pair), so none of the TCB and kwikfit cashback needed - fitting needs to be included but a local tyre dealer will usually charge a fiver (ymmv). obviously not exactly as cheap as this, but they're no longer available from kwikfit. They also do a price match, which I've never tried, but you could easily try asking them to compare their delivered price against that of supplied and fitted.

Vredesteins are pretty good, but found wear to be comparably bad on them. But yes, dry grip v good (not sure about wet, but that's personal opinion)

Ok I will see if I can get them to wait whilst I test them. I know what you mean about standards though, I would never let them touch anything else on my car.

I notice on Oponeo that these tyres are £93 delivered. I just had 4 winter tyres delivered from them with no problem.I imagine you should get them transferred over for about £15/Pair

I just bought four bridgestone winter tyres from oponeo and they were about £10 cheaper per tyre than mytyres

now available at quoted 225 - but £157! good news is 235 has got cheaper :-)

Looks like I got myself a good deal then, shame about them hiking the price for everyone else though.

Well the tyres have been fitted and my pristine alloys have suffered some minor damage. Fortunately I took videos of them this morning and just spoke to Kwik-Fit on the phone who seemed to be very helpful and understanding. The man on the phone said they will build a case, review the evidence and book Chips Away if necessary. Time will tell how well they handle the case.
