Clarification
I posted this as it seems to be a good deal if you want to use it with the Amazon Echo/Dot as no additional hardware is required (some other WiFi connected plugs and lights require an additional Hub).

There are possibly other WiFi plugs/switches/lights etc that will work without a hub but that's only to a mobile phone I believe?...this is more of a deal for someone who wants something to work with the Amazon Echo/Dot.

If I've got any of this wrong then please let me know.

Not voting either way due to my previous good experiences with Belkin products but there are similar items available elsewhere far cheaper such as on eBay. I bought my own a few months ago from there and apart from initial teething issues with the manufacturers iOS app it's been faultless.

Hi. Please can you share as I am looking for something to work with alexa and cheaper sounds better if you are vouching for them. Thanks.

There are 120 1star reviews for these on Amazon though. I was tempted until I saw that.

I bought 2 of these from asda a few months ago. Work brilliantly. Only paid 10 quid each. Quick search found them for 19.99 but may be cheaper on ebay. vesternet.com/edi…wcB

Do these things turn the appliances on and off like they say? Or do they turn the electric sockets on and off like they don't say?

I have a few of these and they work fine, don't have any issues. Bought them ages ago for £20 or so

Another vote for these, got 2 @ £20 recently and they work great with Alexa. not had a single problem with mine.

I think the three holes on the front of this speaks for itself.

Hi there. I have an 'Orvibo' unit purchased from eBay.

wiwo orvibo s20 are a cheap alternative.

After reading the reviews think I'll be staying away. The TP-Link WiFi plug at £24.99 gets a better write up and reviews

Doesn't that require a hub?

Just to clarify, I'm looking to use this with my Amazon Dot to turn on/off a plug-in lamp we have in the corner of our lounge. Since moving our seating around the socket isn't easy to reach so figured this would do and doesn't require any other hardware.

If the the TP-Link products work without additional hardware to work with the Amazon Dot then I'm interested.

Updated item description - hoping I've not got the wrong end of the stick - guess I'll find out tomorrow when it arrives!

Just to confirm this item (WEMO) WORKS with the Amazon Echo & Dot without any further hardware requirements.
Also from your Android or Apple phone. I have at least seven working flawlessly on Android platform and Amazon Echo, Dot.

No mention of the TP Link plugs requiring a hub to work and it says it works with the echo as well. The app which goes with the TP Link plug also gets a better rating. I've bought a couple earlier on today so will see how I get on with them. Should be here by the weekend.

I wouldn't buy this just on the burnt out picture. I did get this one that works well with the echo and is £5 less:

amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

I have one of these and to be honest i wouldnt waste your money on one. Mine worked fine for months then stopped then worked then stopped. Just not reliable enought IMO

Highly recommended integrates with the amazing Nest thermostat, I have two Wemo's use both daily.
I paid £29.99 when Echo was released so I think this may be the price quite often.

As the OP, I have to say that I ended up ordering the TP-Link one instead as it was £5 cheaper and for the sakes of turning something on/off I didn't see the point in wasting money. I've still yet to return the WeMo and haven't even bothered trying it out.

FYI - the TP Link one is currently £24.99 on Amazon...TP_Link

...and still only £16.49 at Argos (if you can find stock)!!!

TP-Link @ Argos

I've had no problems with the TP-Link device - works great via the mobile app and via my Amazon Dot.

Wow £16 is a bargain, but nothing in stock in my area.

Thanks, I think i'll get the TP-Link , they seem to make decent networking gear at least so willing to give them a shot, just wish they were in stock at Argos as that's a bargain price.

you might want to check stock at Argos again... everywhere near me had zero stock when I last commented, just thought I'd check again and now every one of those stores can be collected from 4pm today!
