Anyone know of a good deal for a wooden one?
My loft hatch isn't that big and don't want to make it any bigger which is usually required with a wooden ladder (looks similar size to the one in the photo actually)

Its very easy, just done mine yestetday, cutted my push up hatch to size (draw lines along the inner of the hatch frame, and then cut along the lines you draw, a planer is useful to adjust the size of the new cutted hatch if not fit), installed the hinges n catch came with the ladder follow the instruction. Then secure the ladder in place. Oh, dont forget insulate the new size hatch, I bought insulate block then cut to size n glued at the back of the new hatch.

Heres an installation video
Looks like a good deal. I've been meaning to get a loft ladder for a while and this seems really cheap.

I'm tempted to go with a 4 piece ladder though as it takes up less room at the top as I don't have a ton of space between the loft hatch and wall.

I'll probably need to get a new hatch too as mine currently pops up instead of swinging down.

I would suggest this. All it needs is a couple of brackets attaching and the stow mount attacking. Pretty easy for a moderate DIYer as the loft hatch doesn't need cutting to accommodate a huge ladder. The minimum opening is written on the site.
If you dont have a drop down hatch, may I suggest this. I think they have different sizes to accommodate different loft hatch sizes. If you need more info pm me and I will send you some photos of my setup.
Best thing I did at the old house, meant not having to trapse out to the shed everytime my wife wanted something putting up or getting down from the loft. Bonus of a great view when she's scaling the rungs, although the lodger probably enjoys that with me working away
This was never £80

Most places have it for £60

Simple to fix, the only tricky part is the catch on your existing loft hatch.

With a loft hatch taking you up to £85 here you are in the realms of getting to these solutions sunluxroofwindows.co.uk/253…ers to also consider
I found better solution in my case, small landing and very low loft.
I bought a Manthorpe Drop Down Loft Access Door from toolstation for £30 plus a 8.5Ft 2.6M Extendable Aluminium Ladders Telescopic Folding Extension Extendable Portable 9 Steps Loft Ladder Collapsible DIY Multipurpose UK Stock from dicn for £36 and I can say quality of this ladder from dicn is very good. I have seen so many YouTube reviews I was concerned about this ladder but for access the loft and around the house is super good.
So total cost £67

How easy was it to fit the new hatch? Was it a similar size to the existing hatch or did you have to open it up?
I had very old small hatch opening inside
39575832-A6b8O.jpgIt is light so quiet easy but I had to cut one ceiling joint to accommodate new size.
