I thought this was an excellent price for a post Christmas getaway, especially with the meals and the wine thrown in.
For £59 -- 55% less than usual -- two people can stay overnight at a 19th-century country manor house in Meltham, West Yorkshire.

What's Included:-
Overnight accommodation in a Standard Manor House Double room, with full English breakfast, for twoA 2-course set-menu dinner (worth up to £18.25 per person*)
A bottle of house wine in the room on arrival (worth £10.95)
You can stay from 1 February-31 March, and get all of the inclusions listed above, for £5 more
It's £79 for a 2-night stay in January and £84 for a 2-night stay from 1 February-31 March -- the second night is on a bed-and-breakfast basis
Not available on
14, 16-17 February

Why We Love It
  • This package usually costs over £130 -- so you're getting it for less than half the usual cost
  • This hotel was once the private residence of Huddersfield entrepreneur Sir David Brown -- who owned Aston Martin
  • The building has maintained many of its original features and it boasts traditional décor -- including fireplaces and chandeliers
  • The Durker Roods Hotel is a 10-minute drive from Holmfirth and three miles from the edge of the Peak District National Park -- making it a great base for walkers

I saw this earlier. Can't argue with the price but the reviews aren't very good. Even by people on this deal.
Booked this earlier. Then read reviews and requested a refund!

Where did you see the reviews?
Read reviews on Trip Advisor - not a chance! I'd rather stay in a Hostel for that price.
I'm sure when the staff know what you're paying they will make you feel appropriately welcome.

Basil Fawlty?? LOL I take it the reviews were not good then... Oh dear! Hence the reduced rate maybe? Or maybe they need that Ch 4 lady in The Hotel Inspector!! ?? LOL! Opppps!
Best avoiding if elderly as one TripAdvisor (I never read first time reviewers) says room was 'cold', dispite heating being on.

TripAdvisor. Even the people who bought this deal are moaning about it, which doesn't stand well despite the price.
Are these the reviews you guys are talking about?: tripadvisor.co.uk/Hot…tml
If so this is a reasonably typical tripadvisor 'average' review.
From comments above I thought I'd be finding 0.5 stars.

So true! A lot of places get very snooty when they think you're a Groupon customer. They tend to develop the attitude: "well what do you expect, for what you're paying?"

Make your minds up hotels, either it's a great bargain offer on a £150 a night room that's equitable for you to sell because you're full the rest of the time;- or your're an abject failure and your hotel's a miserable budget affair.

A lot of the time these deals exist because the hotel's already struggling financially. It's a tough world out there.
its been run down for years that hotel, had a carvery with family about 10 years ago, it was ok, nothing more nothing less
I live quite near this hotel, they've been on the verge of going under for years. Not worth it even at this price in my opinion.
This is a nice hotel and has had major redevelopment over the past 5 years. Cannot go wrong for that deal.
Nice to see a good up to date review 😳
