Just been browsing the store with the 20% code and noticed that they had reduced this down from £120 to £60. Seems a cracking price for a 1TB External Hard Drive. Price also includes delivery & make sure you use the bill20 code for 20% off.

Did a search but couldn't see anything.

Spec is below:

i've reported it

Hot, nearly bought it until I remembered I don't need one.

Great deal. Already have the same model 700gb version but running out of space, so £48 for 1TB version is too good to miss.

i've really been looking out for a decent internal 2gb drive but these things usually go pretty hot for some reason. guess i'll see what all the fuss is about.

the 1tb western digital 'elements deal posted earlier for £49 here is gotting up nicely and i've been hoping to see a drop below £50 for a while now, ive been lookin at these deals for this kind of thing on here for a while now, from what i can recall and if anyone could either confirm or deny or give their feedback on please is, is....

...the 'my book' range a lot better than the 'elements' ?

MT's

Voted hot and was gonna buy then checked the company's rep and seems they have had a lot of flack on here

eg - hotukdeals.com/dea…920

Why did you put this link?

1. It's from a poor retailer
2. It's their budget model

The My Book have a light on the front and come with back-up software. The Essential, has neither.

I have a 2TB My Book, a 1TB My Book and a 1.5TB Essential.

The My Book sits nicely like a book in my TV stand, but personally, I like the simplicity of the Essential much, much more. Both power down with inactivity/shutdown as well, which is something I couldn't do without any more.

Hope this helps.

1. Pixmania are known to be hit and miss, sure. The buyer takes a chance. I spent £500 last year at Pixmania and the item arrived next day, no fuss. However, others have not been so lucky.

2. Budget model? They all use the same range of hard disk. The only difference is built-in backup software that is likely not going to be used, and a light on the front indicating the space left on the disk. If you get a premium edition, it also gives an actual LCD screen with the volume name etc. Useful, or gimmick? I own both versions, and personally feel the latter.

3. "Just Better"? Possibly - most definitely in your opinion, but the deals themselves are quite similar really. Depends what you are looking for. My next 2TB external disk for my Revo HTPC will be the Essential, for the reasons in my last post. No light, no distraction, more sleek look.

Superb deal for WD MyBook, I have the 500GB and it really is the best external HDD I have ever owned and I have had a few I tell ya!

Well worth the money..(_;)

Western Digital Elements vs MY book??
and what is that Office Edition means?

Let's hope there's more hope of getting this HDD than the O2 one from last week. Not a huge WD fan, but for £48, worth a punt.

Sorry I have to disagree with you...

1 You only have to view the many negative comments (mine among them) about Pixmania to realise that the risk is not worth it. Do you realise how much it will cost you to send a faulty item back to France?

2. Its not the same product - end of story. Having bought several older models of these WD drives in the past I can assure you that while they may look similar the build quality on the budget versions was poor.

3. I think the It's Just Better is a pretty valid comment to be fair?

Tempting but this is an old WD model.

Just bought one. Thanks

Great deal thnx

What's so special about this? It's just a 1TB external drive using the USB interface.

You can buy a quality hard drive and and a better case for only a few quid more. Good deal, hyped bog standard product.

If it arrives this will be the 6th My Book to put on the shelf the oldest are over 4 years now.
