Scan were doing 2 x 2tb Western Digital for under £116 and will no doubt repeat the deal over the coming weeks on their "Today Only" pages ... so keep your eyes peeled.

Why the price is $71.59?

Bought it at this price at the weekend, thanks to whoever mentioned it in the 1.5TB thread.

Quidco bonus but at this price for a wd had to go for it!

Does this drive come as a FAT32 or NTFS?

I'm not sure, could you not format it to whatever you wanted though?

bought one a few months ago and it was FAT32 have order another one last night.

there is a little prog included which will convert to NTFS, or you could just format it.

Cheers op ordered red molten hot deal

Cheers
Just ordered!

I want to buy one. I this better than the Verbatim USB 3.0 deal posted earlier today?. For little extra, Verbatim USB 3.0 would give far better speeds. How's Verbatim as a brand compared to WD? (I had a WD 1TB that failed to read/write in just 2 years)

If your PC/Laptop has USB3, then IMHO the extra speed is worth it.
There are always debates about one brand being being better than another..
..a bit pointless IMHO - especially for established brand names .
All drives have a statistical probability of failure..
Different models, build, platters, spin speeds, manufacturing batches - all are a factor and no one knows which will fail.. Over time, we realise that some models & batches have a higher probability of failure - so if you know that info, avoid that model / batch (not the brand).

Else, your guess is as good as mine!
I have a WD 1TB drive that has been working for nearly 2years without a problem.

what is the format that both PC and PS3 can support, I know one of them is FAT32 but I have files that are above 4 GB and I wanted to use an external for both pc and ps3 without partition it into 2

good afternoon all.

i was wondering, would this work on my compaq laptop?

also, how does this drive compare to the samsung story drive posted on these pages recently in terms of performance and quality?

It will work as long as you have a spare USB port

f4 on amazon has come down another couple of quid

amazon.co.uk/gp/…294

and looking at other threads on here- they should be uk stock, therefore full warranty (unlike some of the others!)

nice find, heat added, drive ordered

I'm leaving this well alone. I bought the 300GB WD version from tesco direct a few weeks ago and it kept freezing my system. I read up about it on google and it appears to be a fairly common problem. So for that reason I don't truest Western Digital external drives which is a shame as this is a good deal.

No choice unfortunately, externally a PS3 will only support FAT32.
