good deal

When on offer usually £69. Normally £79. This is cheapest I've seen for a WD 2TB portable HDD. Heat.

Will this fit inside a ps4

Most WD portable drives are crippled - they have no SATA interface, only a dedicated USB one.
If you opened it up, it would therefore be useless as a spare SATA drive.

No, I tried but the connector is soldered to the drive to save money. I just posted one that is compatible with PS4.

portables still have a higher price attached

Only USB 2.0?

Thanks OP, same price (£59.99) instore:

USB 3.0

Anyone else spotted in above Argos link, one of the photos shows a WD My Passport Ultra yet that item listed separately is £89.99! (_;)

Yeah some of the pics show the ultra others the cheaper one. Looking for a USB 3.0 version for this price. Best I can find is a 1.5TB - amazon.co.uk/Sam…JSO

I have this drive, its the nuts

I have the non-Ultra WD My Passport 2TB portable HDD and it's USB 3.0 and is black with a sort of dot pattern all over the case just like the photos Argos are showing. I think they may well have the description wrong but it really depends what you receive after ordering this?

Needing it for an Xbox One which has to be 3.0 I believe

Great price and product. Heat added.

Actually whether this is the Ultra or not it still supports USB 3.0. Hmm guess it wont be the Ultra one then.

Anyways still a good deal, bought one for myself and one for my GF. Heat added.

I've read that the only noticeable difference between the two is that the Ultra's case is differ material and it has integrated data backup and Cloud, which im not too bothered about. Dont quote me on that tho.

Got one of these, which I use for backups and then stash in the car. At this price there is no excuse for losing data from a PC.

Thanks, but that seems to be the "ultra" version.

I'll head down to Argos later and check it out and I'll post on here my findings.

Just picked one up from local Argos store at £59.99

My Passport

WD web specs

Not ultra model
It is USB3

Was given a £5 argos voucher to spend before Xmas as purchase was over £50.

This review quotes it contains a 5400 rpm drive.

Announced perhaps in 2011 ?

Another review

The 'Ultra' models were announced in early 2013 and appear to replace this model.

I just picked mine up and I got the ultra edition (Victoria store)

Just got mine from Argos and also got the Ultra version !! (Luton, Gypsy lane Store)

Yep, just got 1. It's the normal version (not ultra) and its USB 3.0

Just picked up mine from argos (kirkgate bradford) its the ULTRA! Many thanks OP and EDraven...

Also got the ulta version. I am in ireland, catalogue number is the same as the uk site, it was €76.

Also picked one up in the London Kilburn branch. It was an Ultra - asked to check first.

Don't know what's so 'Ultra' about it though - it's exactly the same size/thickness as my older Passport 2Tb USB3 drives. Just a different dot pattern on the case and a slightly rounded edge. Doesn't have the metallic trim as in some of the pics. Happy enough though - had a £10 voucher to use, and picked up a £5 one with the drive.

SirHugo

So far everyone bar one person who's purchased and collected in-store at Argos have all received the Ultra version?

Looks like it lol. Luckily I think the only difference is the pre-installed software which is no use to me anyway because I'll be using mine for my xbox one.
