Western Digital 4TB at a decent price. Though it is a (5,400 rpm) drive.

Bought this at last week £89.97 - but with the £10 amazon thank you code. Yet to use it however.
Just wish the RED drives would drop in price a little too...

For most folks the blues are enough, and already have 2 "green drives" but I agree... I would like a red for specific tasks
Expired I think, now showing as £91.97

Is this reliable enough to be used with QNAP?

Yes

I got 4 of these WD Blues for my 6 bay qnap. I tore them out of External enclosures i bought from WD refurb store. All 4 have been PERFECT. Even then they were £90ish so this is a good deal.
Price has increased slightly to £91.97

External Drives by their very nature means you should expect/assume 'extras'? (extra casing, extra power supply, extra engineering/workmanship etc, extra cost/extra costs ... )

The OP's above Deal (in theory) doesn't have/need any of that or whatever?

So it's cheaper nature in direct contract should be expected.

In a similar fashion, I bought a 4TB Portable Hard Drive for under £100, so there's no way I would expect a 4TB Internal Hard Drive equivalent to sell for anything near that same price? (even though in theory, they're more ALMOST alike?! - as no external power supply is needed/required etc? - much like that of the internal equivalent that fits directly inside a Laptop, but still?).

I think you get the point. :-)

Well it would seem amazon has increased the price on this drive a couple of times today, and now its up to £101.50, so i would consider this deal expired.

Hi,

Actually I don't get your point to be honest.

I said this was a good deal as a refurbished external drive (with the same drive in it was £90 on a deal) and that was a refubished product.

In many many instances, external USB hard drives are much CHEAPER than the bare drive counterparts, hence the reason I bought 4 and cracked them open. The reason the USB external drives are cheaper is the warranty is shorter, that "free" warranty you get on hard drives isn't really free at all. I cracked open the USB enclosures and took a risk, it paid off.
I was also letting someone know they work fine in a qnap.

Have you checked the load cycle count on them drives yet? Apparently WDIDLE3 doesnt work on the blues now either so you cant disable the intellipark
