Just what I was waiting for!

Is this one better than my passport?

Also wondering, is this better than My passport? £10 cheaper..... My Passport seems to be 2016 models, Elements 2017.

I have the Passport and it’s an absolutely brilliant bit of kit, well impressed with it.

Fast for this time of nights.

Bought for PS4 external hd.

Cheers for the reply. Couldn't find data rates on any site bar currys which says both 5 gb per second max. Not sure whether to go for this and return the one from Currys I bought yesterday now.

It seems like the "Elements" is the bigger 3.5 drive and the My Passport is 2.5

Also Elements drive can be removed easily from the case to use in Laptops whereas My Passport doesn't offer that?

Does this need to be plugged in or does it get power from USB?

Don't think that's true. Pretty sure they are both 2.5" portable drives

Power from USB

Bargain. A 4tb hard drive for £90. As long as it's reliable it'll do.

For those wondering about what the difference (as was I) is between this and My Passport

[Source: Quora]

WD Elements is the most basic edition in there series. Considering its price a good value for money. People who who want a hard disk just to dump their data, This is one of the best hard disk out there considering its price and brand value.

It features: USB 3.0 Compatible ; Light weight (124g)

I would recommend

Western Digital My Passport Ultra

This would be the best option to those who use their hard disk to store important data and not just to dump their data, Using the cloud back up and password protection the user can have a back up and restrict intruders in accessing there data.

It features: USB 3.0 Compatible; Light weight; Automatic and cloud backup; Password protection & Security

Passport Ultra isn't the version at £99 though

trying to work out if the other model - Western Digital 4 TB My Passport Portable Hard Drive - is worth the extra £10. This amazon comparison table is littered with errors and WD's website doesn't even list this info!

I just copied the first answer, you can see a bunch of replies by going to the source, what I got is the sentiment is the same. Basically saying the Passport line has additional features, cloud backup, password protection and data encryption etc. Elements is just a basic run of the mill drive if you just want to store data and nothing more.

Bought the passport version from Curry's with free cinema tickets for £100. Looks like that's the better deal.

The Element is the basic model and arguably less durable. No HW Encryption AFAIK. Great for a basic backup or media/games drive. Reliable, although some complain about the usb3 connector being fiddly/flakey. Its good price for 4Gb. This is NOT a 3.5inch drive, its 2.5inch. Personally - i like the styling of the case better than the new modern art versions but arguably the Curry's deal is slightly better if you want another color other than black ;-)

Have been looking at this exact hard drive for about two weeks now, waiting for price to drop. I have 2tb one for a quite a while now and very happy with it so decided to get one for my PS4. Just ordered one

That used to be Western Digital's primary goal with these until they settled for simple data storage....

If you're already irresistible, is becoming "more irresistible" actually possible?....

Superb deal

Can I use this for storage or xbox games aswell as backing up files on my Pc?

Can you please last few examples of best HDD with reasonable price range. I have already got two HDDs attached to my nvidia-shield-tv box, 2tb and 4tb. I may have to remove one to upgrade storage space. I mainly use for plex

Is there a smaller version, i.e 1-2TB at a competitive price?

I'm still confused re the difference, from the above you believe the hardware is actually different?

It looked to me as though it was just software differences, which you can probably get better free alternatives to anyway

I'd like to know too.
The currys one you can get for the same price with the £10 vouchercode app plus you get the free cinema tickets...

Just want to know which is best. Will be used solely for xbox storage
