stonking deal if this is a 2.5" drive. Can you confirm it is some sort of WD passport?

its not the passport but the wd elements a little bit bigger than the passport

£45 sounds average for a basic elements drive. You need external power making it a bit less than portable imo.

Shame.

cannot see being the 2.5 version as shown in the picture.

OP, are u sure the picture is the one being sold? Because there is another WD elements.

Be hot if it is, but will not vote until its been confirmed

I was looking at this one today in the Tottenham Court Road PC World store.

Contents list talks about a UK mains adapter, hence it is going to be a 3.5" drive, NOT 2.5". COLD!

Looks like the description needs to be updated to mention that it will need a mains adapter..

yes, it's a 3.5" drive with an external drive. Cold!

I got a 500gb external drive for this price 2 years ago. This is cold.

Why does it beinf a 3.5" drive make it cold??? Admittedly the OP needs to remove "doesn't require an separate power supply"

Cheapest I see it elsewhere is nearly £49 plus delivery, so that makes this deal hot as its cheaper!

Its element desktop not element portable, i work at PC world. anyhow we did have 250 element portable for the same price and iomega portable 320GB for 49

Cold because it is bad value for money. Instead of this one, ]buy a 1TB USB desktop drive for a couple of £££ more.

Or if you do want a portable, USB powered drive, ]this one is great value for money.

Saying what difference does being 3.5 make is akin to saying "What difference does it make if its a 17 inch laptop and not a netbook?" They are completely different and have different price points.

Looks to me just like an error in the post title - the £44.99 price point is in fact a WD Elements 2.5 drive, just the 250gb, not 500gb (which is at the mental price of £109.99)

Easy to get confused though, with all the similar pics & descriptions on PC world..

confirmed its 3.5" voted cold,

for a little extra you have have ureself a 1TB,
