Amazon prime day deal...

Cheap for a 6tb external hard drive - this is one of the bigger ones which has an external power supply.

Not quite as cheap as the £79.99 Seagate from last night, but some may prefer WD anyway

The Seagate from yesterday seem to be faster and more recent?Any advantage …The Seagate from yesterday seem to be faster and more recent?Any advantage of this versus the Seagate?

The Seagate's tend to have slightly more 1-star reviews. Not very scientific, but generally WD seem to be considered as more reliable?

Seagate also use SMR (shingled) tech in (maybe only some of) their drives on bigger sizes, which means they are only really suitable for backup drives - basically, the more you write to them, the more they slow down over time (when writing). Not a problem at all for a drive you will dump data onto and leave, but more of an issue if you are constantly changing data on the drive. As far as I know, WD do not use this tech or suffer from this issue.

And yeah, the Seagate isn't available at that price any more

...and yeah I feel your pain. I already have a spare 6tb by my desk here that I got for what I thought was a good price at £87. I don't need any more now, but will it be this cheap again any time soon? Gah.

Had a 5tb Seagate die on me, would never buy Seagate again, bought 2 of these, no problems

...and yet the average failure rate is higher for the 6TB WD Reds (3.96%) than any of the Seagates in the Backblaze chart you posted
Can't believe this isn't getting more heat?

Yeah I am surprised - I have never seen a WD 6tb drive this cheap.

Oh well, I did not need, but I caved anyway

Was running out, but seems to be back in stock now.

Haha waited too long thinking about it, went from 8 available with more on the way, to available in 1-2 days, went to add to basket and no longer available to add at amazon deal of the day price
Can you take drive out?
The 6tb Seagate Expansion drive is still available for £79.99. amazon.co.uk/Sea…1MQ
This (and the Seagate link above) out of stock/back up in price so expiring..
