great price, and no faffing about as you said

This is apparently THE disk to use to upgrade your Humax Fressat recorders/ SKY HD Recorders (low power, less heat etc)

nice find op

HOT! Just ordered two as backup drives.

I bought one yesterday at this price but didn't bother posting as these prices just keep edging downwards and more people on HUKD seem to prefer the Samsung F3.

However, it's perfect for storing all my videos, pics & docs whilst keeping my older 200GB drive free for my OS & programs.

No silly codes or p&p extras

That's the way I like my deals to be - clear and honest. Well done Deano and well done Amazon.

If you use XP then just make sure you run WD align or speeds will be poor, but these are great drives

Lol at posting this bit of information. The drive is good at what it does, but its not comparing like with like. Good for a media drive. but the f3 is better and faster as a boot drive. That is because they are different. Quoting the fact that more people buy the WD over the Samsung is ludicrous, because people go to the page with the intention of buying that drive. Go to the Samsung entry and you will find:

Good deal though, but people will normally buy the cheapest. that said they are different types of drives.

I must admit I don't agree with that, this is an advance format drive which can cause issues, the best drive to use for Humax or Sky would be a dedicated AV drive designed to be on 24 hours a day recording lots of HD video streams:

The Seagate pipline drives are also designed for AV use and you will often find one of these in your Sky or Humax box.

good good good price, heated and should be hotter

F3 is good as a primary drive but this is great to store stuff on

thanks

This is a great price for this drive, picked up the F3 for 39.99 on last weeks' HUKD.. this one seems good for a boot drive too!

There seems to be some confusion on the Amazon description, it should be noted this is only 5,400rpm not 7,200rpm

Yep you are quite right, I was getting my part numbers muddled WD10's...nearly bought one for my HDR, glad I didn't now

F3 offers have been hanging around the 39.99 mark, for a couple of quid I'd rather have an F3 over this.

Thought that myself [hence the 'green' moniker] though strangely WD doesn't mention what speed at all, from what I can see ... wdc.com/en/…763

The WD10EVDS has 32MB buffer but I've been watching the price of the WD10EURS which has a 64MB buffer and is cheaper! Cheaper still on eBuyer.

One could go to WD15 or even WD20 in the FoxSat but I'm not convinced that there's yet a worthwhile £/GB benefit in doing so considering the likelihood of me actually needing to use the extra storage in the short or medium term.

Good spot, the only thing I'd say is the WD10EURS is an advance format drive i.e. new 4k sectors which can cause problems with XP and some DVR equipment and the WD20EVDS is not advance format so should be more compatible.

Awesome. Would be interested to know if I can back up my Virgin box with it?

Ordered and heat added thanks

Brilliant, ordered thanks.

Yea, everyone digs the F3 now but I am biased against Samsung after having 3 of them fail on me in a row. I realise this is not statistically significant but it is just how I feel about them now.

I actually just got the 1TB Green for £40 the other day, lol. Seems fine and since it is just for storage the "power-down" thing is OK by me.

HOT just ordered one for my satellite reciver vu duo thanks.

I run two of these for my movies and music, and to back up my PC and docs, so am very happy
