Good price, although this is one of the larger portables that requires an AC adapter as well...

I need a storage unit for back-up only - don't need to carry it round with me - is this a hot deal?

yes

Yes.

I'd definitely go for WD over Iomega.

Now i`m really confused...so many different drives posted today and i don`t know which to go for.
Just want a back up for pics & videos really as i`m sick of losing stuff when my Dell laptop messes up.
How many pics and hours of video footage could you really get on a 500gb or a 1TB drive.
Not really fussed if portable or not,USB powered sounds good though..(less leads hanging around)

Good price, useing this drive on my Mac as a time machine backup. Nice looking design and fast, be warned though it's a noisy **** (at least as far as I'm concerned).

Wow forever getting cheaper......

Not sure about video footage as it depends on the bitrate & other factors, but I have around 15000 pictures & it takes up just over 100GB, so a 1TB drive should be able to store 140,000 pictures.

If you can, I would definitely go for a 2.5" USB powered over a 3.5" model.

I bought the 2TB version a couple of days ago for a backup drive when it was £80, just glanced at the picture and the price and was gutted until I realised it was the smaller version xD

I've got one for my time-machine sitting at foot level on a trolley and I can't hear it. Maybe you have it sitting on something loose so it's vibrating as it spins.
I am v happy with mine.

3am cant sleep so just ordered one :-)

Potentially faulty drive, I have just ordered a 2tb one this time - had 4 in total for different people and not one of them have ever been noisy..:|
