I think these smaller drives are much less of a bargain now, when you can pick up a 500Gb one for under fifty quid.

However the Seagate brand is not very reliable in reflection to the Western Digital one....

Anything to back that claim up?

Well said seacher 2.

Unfortunately time travel has not been invented. If you have a better price now for this item, a similar item or a better item then I think you can justify voting cold.

Using the Seagate Expansion Portable Hard Drive couldn't be simpler … Using the Seagate Expansion Portable Hard Drive couldn't be simpler either; just plug it into a USB port on your computer and off you go. No need for chunky power adaptors, and the hard drive even comes pre-formatted for use with windows.

If you were right then it would be but it's a 2.5" drive

Yes - sorry. I think the picture in the PC World advert is wrong then as that's the picture of the mains one (which is 4cm deep). However, for the same price the one on Amazon is definitely the USB powered one (you can see it is slimmer at less than 2cm).

Sorry -can't get the link to work for some reason.... but it's Seagate 500GB Expansion Portable USB 2.0 Hard Drive

Why buy this external 2.5 drive to upgrade a laptop, when a 320gb Western Digital Scorpio Blue internal can be bought for about the same price (ebuyer has it for £34.98+ £2.xx delivery)?

Is the warranty not invalidated when this is taken out of the case?

The MJ drive was a good deal, the branding is not that bad and not a problem at all when it's in the case.

If you swap drives you can use the casing with smaller drive as portable drive ....
This is quality case and very handy IMO.....

Gawd! Some people on this site really are thick!

Why would I post a 500Gb drive for £50 when you can buy a 2TB 3.5" drive for £76! e.g. aria.co.uk/Sup…eps

Ordered one of these... just what I was looking for at a very good price!

Thanks

this is a good price for a well respected product, I want a portable 250gb drive, ideally Western, for under £35 - not going for this though because postage would push it up nearer £40 and I'm sticking to my guns.
