Fair point didn’t see that but this price is only 56p less than the normal Amazon price.

56p is 56p Just thought I would post as it has been touch and go with stock in some places. Just gave the cheapest price I could find that could deliver right away.

Dabs customer service is abysmal though - when you run into problems they are as responsive as a brick wall.

Can somebody explain what the advantages of this are?!

i hook it up to my pc and tv and then i can watch stufff like you tube and downloaded movies on my tv....is that about it?

i have never doen anything liek this but i would have though you can just buy some sort of cable connecter for around £10-£20 to connect your pc to your tv??!.....or is that way off?

This is £120 on the WD website, theres a £20 voucher going. I was going to post it yesterday but thought I'd quickly google other retailers. Amazon came up yesterday at £95 + few pence.

Price: £95.90 - didnt realise this is a 3 week old thread

Ok there are a few things to consider

Benefits of PCs
1) Laptops PCs do not always have HDMI out but you can use VGA for video and the 3.5mm audio
2) HTPCs (Home Theatre PCs) allow you to use a PC built for media use and usually come with a remote.
3) You can add a remote to a PC for around £5 to £10

The non obvious issues that can up using a PC

1) Sound is stereo not full surround, unless your PC / Laptop has HDMI or optical out
2) A lot of older PCs and laptops have trouble playing HD content smoothly and handling advanced audio out
3) You have to setup the laptop each time you want to view a movie etc so not that easy to use

The WD HD TV box solves some of these problems with a low price tag £67 big plus is NTFS support (you need this for files >4g most 1080p movies are around 9gig) and native MKS support no need to transcode. The £95 unit adds a network interface (ether net) and the software does access youtube etc for on line content.

The down side is around updates for drivers etc but the current model seems to play most of the HD content very well.
