Maplin have an M.2 for £85? where?

I've been considering Maplin for helping my boy build a pc, but concerned if anything goes wrong with any parts and they close. Happened recently with a brand new PSU that arrived faulty from eBuyer and even that was a bit of a nightmare to get exchanged.
Hmm seems to be the regular price for this now, look here 53 pounds at CCL

Can you get m.2 usb disk enclosures?

Ive seen you can; transcend enclosure any good? Cm80 for the length.
Poor performance for m.2 drive. Cheap but you may as well go for the normal ssd for same spec but bigger capacity.

Yeah, this is basically a SATA drive that plugs into an M.2 socket, not one of the faster NVMe drives that also use M.2. The only real advantage to this kind of drive is how little space they take up. They're great for small form factor builds since they are pretty much flush with the motherboard and no cables.

I wanted to play with one on my xbox one. Better off getting full sized ssd enclosure and using that? Alreadly have 2 non ssd external drives attached which i wont replace yet due to being several TBs
Cold compared to the current Maplin one

This one gets delivered to your door. The Maplin one is only available in stores, which may close without notice so you can't return it.
Maplin are delivering mine for free!
Hot, because it's not Maplin.

Well it's SATA, and a crappily rebranded old Sandisk product at that. Not all M.2 drives are PCIe/NVMe.

Honestly I wouldn't bother. It's not going to make the kind of speed difference it would in a PC, especially not over USB. The other thing is that there will be more wear on the drive than in a PC since the PC does something called TRIM to SSD's to avoid wearing them out. I'd personally go for something like a firecuda hybrid drive if you want something a little snappier than a standard HDD but still with a good amount of space. In fact thats the drive I replaced my internal PS4 drive with.
would this be a good upgrade to replace a 5400 laptop drive?

Do you have an M.2 slot?

That's because you ordered before they ran out of stock......
That's how deliveries work. If you order it whilst it's in stock they deliver it.
Anyway, they still have stock

Any SSD would be better than a mechanical 5400 hard drive, for sure. Do it, you won't regret it.
Great price if you're after a 256GB.

The form factor is truly amazing. I have one in my nuc too and the whole i3 computer is only about 2"×2"×1"
£70 now, missed that one
