Another hard drive deal for black friday. Not as good as the standard 4tb for approx £60, but this drive is double the size and new, not refurbished. There might well be some better deals in the coming few days for big HDD's but currently this looks like a good one for this size and the cheapest for 8tb currently on amazon UK. Cheapest according to camelcamelcamel too.

Not for everyone this. May suit people in the media industry. But still good and i have always found WD to be reliable

ok.....

Fixing that for you, "ANY data on a single hdd = big risk".
Always have a backup, doesn't matter if it's a 500GB drive or an 8TB drive (or even an 8GB flash drive... ), if a drive fails, you lose the data, so always have a backup.

What drive is on the inside?

I got one of these 6 months ago for £220, no problems with it. Might pick up another at this price.

Where have you seen the 4TB at £60? I cannot find it at less than £100

Think that was an old expired deal.

In 1996, 6.4GB on a single HDD was a big risk.

So I bought two and have opened one up.

Drive is WD80EZAZ-11TDBA0 can't find this online anywhere but it is 5400rpm and does work fine outside the enclosure.

The enclosure doesn't allow other drives to be used without a little modification to the PCB. Instructions on youtube. Very easy. Bit of a pain to open but if you take your time you will extract the drive without completely trashing the enclosure.

For anyone using it as designed it looks like out of the box the drive would not work if taken out of the enclosure without reformatting. This means as far I understand if the enclosure stops working you will not be able to access the files say for example in another caddy. There may be workarounds but something to consider.

Where can I get that GBP 60 for 4TB that you speak of? WDC Recertified? Unfortunately, they seem to be out of stock since like forever.

expired it is £207.97 now
