******....just bought a non Firewire one for £72 on Amazon, that will teach me for not researching enough!

Cheers OP.

Has anyone ordered from this company before? Have had some bad experiences with 'unknown' companies lately

This is the first time I have used them. Item due for delivery tomorrow so will post back on how I find them.

Just checked Quidco and £2 has tracked

Warehouse Express is a known and long established retailer often used by photographers, so no problems there.

Many thanks, I had never heard of them before but seems a good price.

Heat has gone down slightly so if anyone knows a better deal don't vote cold without giving a reason.

Boiling hot - heat and rep for me. My friend's boyfriend wanted to get him one of these for Xmas but didn't in the end, I'm glad! I'll tell him about it and see if he wants to put it away for his birthday or something. Thank you.

Maybe people are comparing it to the USB only version which is cheaper.

The Firewire 800 is more expensive

Plus the newer version has "customizable e-label" which the older versions don't

Mac's don't have an eSata connection. This HD is designed for Mac's

Their high speed connection is Firewire 800

So you would have to connect this via USB 2.0 due to no eSata connection on a Mac. USB 2.0 is slower than Firewire 800. So why would you buy the 2 you quote?

Just to let you know the drive arrived this morning. 24 hours after placing the order

most things are slower than firewire 800, it gives eSATA a run for it's money in real world usage, this drive has some useful features and connnectivity for the price, not to mention a good sized storage

also in their desktop range, it's the one that ticks the most boxes so to speak for features !

Sadly it's £109 now.

The SmartWare is removable on this Mac version? I tried a MyBook the other day and it came on an unmountable virtual CD which was very annoying.

What are all you guys on?

This drive is only £85.48 at Amazon and Ebuyer – and yes it IS the same drive

amazon.co.uk/Wes…8-4

The 1.5TB version is only £97.02 and the 2TB is only £117.93 for Gawd's sake!

amazon.co.uk/Wes…8-1

Now I get it – just noticed this deal was posted in 2009!

Why do people resurrect these old threads? And why do I never notice??
