Thanks
Mmm ... That comment at the top is off putting:

BulletProofPanda
2.0 out of 5 starsVery poor write speeds
4 February 2018Verified Purchase
At first glance, this drive has good specs, decent read/write speeds and cheap. This is where the juicy goodness ends. Get windows installed, and realise the drive has no onboard cache. Write speeds are shockingly bad, read are very good. See pic for details.
This is not an isolated incident, tested with 2 drives and both give same performance. Upon checking the mighty google, it appears it is a common problem.

One of the best WD, been using them all my life and never had any problems.
Good to see SSDs approaching sane prices again Voted hot but personally not in a rush so I'm happy to wait for a good deal on something with 5 year warranty.
This drive had no onboard DRAM so writing larger files can choke the controller leading to slow write speeds.

Any SSD will be better than a mechanical but this is not a high performance drive.
Hard to see this as a scorching deal - it's been pretty much this price at either Amazon or EBuyer for most of the last month - I've been watching it

SSDs use barely any energy, a 'green' one is just an excuse for a shit one

Ahahhaha, such a blunt comment, love it
Coming up £63 for me
This is an old and slow drive. For £4 more you could have got the Crucial MX500 with 10gb more hard drive space and it is very fast.

The review below is for this drive vs the older Crucial MX300, so will lag behind the MX500 even more.

Green for SSDs (as they did with HDD) means slower than can be expected. The Green drives are no greener than the non-green drives at the same speed. Its another example of marketing bull. Maybe they will claim the lack of onboard dram means it uses less energy In reality it means they have shaved off a few pence for the sake of throttling performance.

You would be mad not to spend the extra £4 and get the FAR superior MX500.
Not only is it larger and much faster it also comes with 2 extra years of warranty, no brainer imho

Ok, so I've cancelled my order.

What's the link to this mx500?

Think your getting confused mate. SDDs don't have ram they have hard drive space in GB. That being said I'd try pick up the crucial drive or a Samsung 840/850 ssd over this western digital green one.

Nope he is right they have RAM or as you should call it cache (same thing) old mechanical HDD'S have cache too.

But agree about poor performance of WD SSDs.

He quoted one of the drives having 10gb ram, these don't have that much cache

I have corrected the error - it should have read 10gb extra hard drive space.
