But thats 3.5" and needs a plug - whereas this is 2.5" and works soley of USB power.

Good product, not a hot price. I bought a black, 320GB version of the exact same thing from CD Discount for £48 two months ago - an offer that was also posted on HUKD at the time. So ... cold from me, I'm afraid.

It's a good price, but I don't know if that will still be true in two months(!) when it finally gets delivered. Shame, cos otherwise a great find:thumbsup:

This deal works out at 16p/GB vs 15p/GB you paid for the the 320GB drive. Doesn't warrant a cold IMO, given that you always pay more for a flagship capacity (500GB is a flagship capacity for 2.5" drives). Definitely hot for anyone who needs more portable capacity than the 320GB provides.

could this product 'mirror' a boot record from a desktop pc with all the documents programs registry keys drivers and just boot from the bios on some laptops?

would this act the same way as a desktop pc in terms of being able to save changes, update drivers?

back up to £94.41 now?

Might want to unexpire it, it's still £80, you are looking at a different seller for £94

Unexpired as it's still available using Amazon's add to basket link on the right of the landing page.

Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months!

320Gb for £48 .... and you could get it for £49 from many places (I bought some). Since then these superb disks have drifted up in price instead of the more normal down. Exchange rate problems no doubt. Now the pound appears to have turned the corner against the dollar we may once again get the benefit of the fierce price erosion of hard disks we have enjoyed for many, many years. So I'm waiting before I buy again.

Could a drive like this be connected to a router to provide storage over my home network, or would it have to be one with an external power supply?

Now £76.78 delivered although a 1-3 months despatch date.

For 38p more, Ebuyer has 8 in stock ebuyer.com/pro…926
You may spot better deals if you have to wait a whole month, though the great thing about Amazon is that they don't charge your card until dispatch so you can just cancel if you don't mind waiting.
